Tech Wari 2.0 Launched: A Historic Leap in Technology Training for 1 Million Government Employees

Mumbai, May 2026 : The Maharashtra government has launched “Tech Wari 2.0 – Maharashtra Technology Training Week,” marking one of India’s most ambitious state-led capacity-building initiatives aimed at empowering nearly one million government employees with cutting-edge technological skills. The programme, inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is being jointly organised by the General Administration Department and the Department of Electronics, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence.

Running from May 4 to May 8, 2026, at Mantralaya, the initiative seeks to integrate advanced technology with governance, healthcare, administrative excellence, and cultural values. The overarching goal is to equip government personnel with modern tools and knowledge to improve public service delivery and governance efficiency.

The inaugural event, held at the Trimurti Courtyard, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, and Capacity Building Commission Chairperson Radha Chauhan, among other senior officials. Frontline workers and representatives contributing significantly to the state’s development were also felicitated during the ceremony.

The programme began with an energetic performance titled “Taalrang: The Journey of Rhythm and Teamwork” by tabla artist Nilesh Parab, setting the tone for a blend of technology, culture, and collaboration.

High-Level Insights and Focus on Mental Well-being

The event features sessions by prominent experts on digital governance and emerging technologies. Speakers such as Amitabh Kant (former CEO of NITI Aayog), Radha Chauhan, Rajesh Agrawal, Maharashtra DGP Sadanand Date, and Dr. Vivek Raghavan (co-founder of Sarvam AI) shared insights into the evolving landscape of digital administration and the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing efficiency.

In addition to technology, the programme also emphasises mental health and holistic development. The Manshakti Research Centre conducted sessions focused on enhancing cognitive abilities, while the Saath Mela Holistic Health Camp provided resources to support both physical and mental well-being of employees.

Hands-On Technology Experience

The Trimurti Courtyard has been transformed into a dynamic tech hub, showcasing live demonstrations by 10 global technology leaders. One of the highlights includes Meta’s governance-focused WhatsApp solution, which enables citizens to access services like electricity, healthcare, and policing through simple voice commands—without needing a separate app.

Another innovation on display is Flam.ai’s Visual Agent, an AI-native mixed reality platform designed for impactful public awareness campaigns. It is optimized to run on low-end smartphones in under 100 milliseconds, making it highly accessible.

Statewide Collaborative Effort

Co-sponsored by the Department of Electronics, IT, and Artificial Intelligence, Tech Wari 2.0 is designed to have a statewide impact. All sessions are being live-streamed to reach employees across Maharashtra, ensuring widespread participation.

The technology exhibition will remain open until May 8, fostering direct interaction between government officials and global technology innovators. The initiative reflects Maharashtra’s commitment to building a digitally skilled workforce capable of driving efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance in the years ahead.
