Telangana BJP Rejects Calls for Bandi Sanjay’s Resignation, Accuses BRS of Political Propaganda

Hyderabad, May 2026 : Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday strongly rejected demands seeking the resignation or dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar following the arrest of his son, Bandi Bhageerath, in a POCSO case.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Ramchander Rao asserted that Bandi Sanjay had committed no wrongdoing and therefore there was no justification for opposition parties demanding his resignation. He accused the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of deliberately targeting the Union Minister and his family through what he described as a malicious political campaign.

“Bandi Sanjay has done no wrong. If his family members have done anything wrong, there will be action as per law,” Ramchander Rao stated while defending the senior BJP leader.

The Telangana BJP chief alleged that BRS leaders were attempting to exploit a personal family issue for political mileage and claimed that the party was spending large sums of money on posters and publicity campaigns across the state aimed at damaging Bandi Sanjay’s image.

He particularly criticised BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao for allegedly spreading false propaganda against the Union Minister.

According to Ramchander Rao, the opposition party had no moral authority to demand resignations from BJP leaders when its own leaders had faced serious allegations in the past.

Referring to K. Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who was arrested in the Delhi excise policy case, he questioned why neither KCR nor K.T. Rama Rao had resigned at that time.

“When Kalvakuntla Kavitha did wrong, why didn’t KCR and KTR resign?” he asked.

The BJP leader also accused the BRS leadership of lacking moral values and alleged that party leaders were involved in large-scale corruption during their tenure in power.

“Where are the moral values of the BRS party?” he asked, while alleging that BRS leaders had looted crores of rupees through the liquor scam.

Ramchander Rao further attacked the previous BRS government over issues related to women’s safety and law and order. He claimed that crimes against women had increased significantly during the BRS regime and questioned why the party leadership had not accepted responsibility at that time.

“Did they resign over the rape of a girl in Jubilee Hills? What action did they take when a woman sarpanch complained that a BRS MLA was sexually harassing her?” he asked.

He also alleged that KCR and KTR should have faced arrest in connection with the Kaleshwaram project and Formula E race-related cases respectively, but claimed that the Congress government was protecting BRS leaders due to alleged political collusion.

Meanwhile, Ramchander Rao also participated in the “Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdaan” programme organised at the BJP state office in Hyderabad. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for responsible fuel usage and self-reliance, he urged BJP workers to contribute toward building an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” by reducing unnecessary fuel consumption and promoting indigenous products.

“In the context of current global challenges, the call given by Modi ji from the perspective of national interests is extremely important. These small efforts today will pave the way for larger changes tomorrow,” he said.

Highlighting his support for eco-friendly transportation, Ramchander Rao revealed that he had travelled in an electric vehicle to attend the programme. In a post on social media platform X, he described the move as a step towards promoting energy conservation, pollution control and a cleaner future.

“The future belongs to electric vehicles. Let us support Prime Minister Modi’s vision of an eco-friendly and self-reliant India by reducing dependence on petrol and diesel,” he wrote.
