Governor visits Government Primary School at Gujrehra in Kangra

Kavinder Gupta lauds Himachal’s rise in PGI 2.0 rankings

Governor Kavinder Gupta today visited the Government Primary School at Gujrehra in Kangra district and interacted with students, teachers and education officials to assess the ground realities of education in rural areas of the state.

During the visit, the Governor received first-hand feedback about the academic environment, infrastructure facilities and the challenges faced by schools in remote areas. He interacted with the students and encouraged them to continue their education with dedication and confidence.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that children are the future of the nation and there was a need to improve educational infrastructure in remote and rural schools across the state. He said that providing quality education to every child, regardless of geographical difficulties, should remain a top priority of every government. He also stressed the importance of better classrooms, proper sanitation facilities, digital learning resources and a positive learning environment in government schools situated in rural areas.

Kavinder Gupta expressed happiness over the remarkable progress made by Himachal Pradesh in the field of quality education at the national level. Referring to the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 and PGI-D 2024-25 reports issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, he said that Himachal Pradesh had secured sixth position in the country and third position among the states after showing significant improvement in field of education.

The Governor also discussed the idea of strategically merging schools for better use of available resources and manpower. He said that such steps could help improve the quality of education, provide students with better academic exposure and increase administrative efficiency in the education sector.

He further said that education plays an important role in building a progressive society and urged teachers to continue working with dedication and commitment towards shaping young minds. He praised the efforts of teachers serving in difficult and remote areas and acknowledged their valuable contribution to society.

Senior officers of the Education Department and district administration also accompanied the Governor during the visit.
