₹400 Crore Investment in Pune to Create 1,000 Jobs in 10 Years: CM Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai, May 2026 : A major investment agreement between the Maharashtra government and Aggreko India is expected to bring around ₹400 crore investment in Pune over the next 10 years and generate nearly 1,000 direct jobs, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Monday.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of the Chief Minister at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. Senior officials including Chief Minister’s Additional Chief Secretary Lokesh Chandra, Industries Department Principal Secretary Dr. P. Anbalagan, Investment Advisor Kaustubh Dhavase, and senior representatives of Aggreko India, including Director Sunny Thakkar, Group Head Stephen Rea, Managing Director Rahul Khare, Head of Procurement and Global Supply Sunil Deshmukh, Trade Advisor Mark Birrell, and Senior Trade Advisor Pratiksha Kshirsagar were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said Pune is rapidly emerging as an important hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and welcomed Aggreko into this growing GCC capital. He assured that the company would receive a strong and supportive business ecosystem in Maharashtra, particularly in Pune.
He further stated that the state government will extend full support in obtaining necessary approvals, registrations, incentives, and other administrative clearances for the project in accordance with existing policies. Departments such as Industries, Energy, Labour, and Mining will work together to accelerate the implementation of the investment.
Under the agreement, Aggreko India will set up a state-of-the-art global engineering and manufacturing centre at Phulgaon in Pune district. The construction work is expected to begin this year. This facility will be Aggreko’s most important engineering and manufacturing hub outside Scotland.
The project is expected to significantly boost the local supply chain and create opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to integrate into global supply networks. It will also strengthen Maharashtra’s capabilities in advanced manufacturing, energy equipment production, and precision engineering sectors.
Aggreko India focuses on efficient energy solutions and temperature control technologies. As part of the agreement, the company will work towards improving energy efficiency across sectors, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing resilience against climate change. It has also committed to supporting Maharashtra’s climate action plan by promoting sustainable energy and temperature control systems in the state.
Officials said the investment marks a major step in strengthening Pune’s industrial ecosystem and positioning Maharashtra as a key global destination for advanced engineering and clean energy solutions.
