Mock Drill Conducted to Strengthen Industrial Safety and Disaster Management in Factories

Raipur, May 2026 : A mock drill was successfully conducted on Friday at M/s Sarda Energy and Minerals Limited with the objective of strengthening and making industrial safety and disaster management systems in factories more robust and effective, under directions of the state government.

The exercise was organised to ensure complete prevention of potential accidents in industrial units and to enhance rapid response capabilities during emergencies. It also aimed to test and improve the efficiency of rescue and relief operations as well as coordination among various departments.

The drill focused on assessing preparedness in handling emergency situations and strengthening safety protocols within industrial establishments.

Deputy Director of the Directorate of Industrial Health and Safety, Shri Ashutosh Pandey, was present on the occasion. Representatives from several major industrial units of the region also participated, adding significance to the event.

Among those present were Shri Alok Pandey, Head HR of Jaiswal Neco Industries; Shri Shiv Kumar Yadav, Head HR of Real Ispat; Shri Sudhakar Tiwari, Pellet Plant Head of Godawari Ispat; Shri Ishan Tamrakar, Head of Security Department; and officials from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

The mock drill was conducted under the leadership of Shri Amit Kumar Mishra, Head-HSE of Sarda Energy and Minerals Limited. Senior officials of the Sarda Group, including Managing Director Shri Pankaj Sarda, Head Operations Shri Manoj Shah, Pellet Plant Head Shri Komal Dhurandhar, and Head HR Shri Vivek Chaudhary, were also present.

During the drill, a simulated emergency scenario was created in the pellet plant involving a toxic producer gas (carbon monoxide) leakage, leading to a hypothetical industrial accident affecting workers at the site. Fire emergency situations were also included in the exercise.

The drill demonstrated safety procedures to be followed during such incidents, including immediate rescue operations and relief management. It also highlighted coordination among employees and concerned departments, compliance with safety standards, and the importance of increasing awareness regarding industrial safety practices.

Special emphasis was laid on improving communication and coordination between different teams during emergencies, ensuring quick decision-making and effective response mechanisms.

At the conclusion of the exercise, the attending dignitaries and officials appreciated the mock drill, describing it as a significant and exemplary initiative in the direction of industrial safety, risk management, and disaster control.

They noted that such regular drills play a crucial role in strengthening the safety culture within industries and help ensure better preparedness for unforeseen emergencies.
