Governor Reviews Mizoram’s Preparations for 73rd NEC Plenary

Aizawl, June, 2026: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) reviewed Mizoram’s preparations for the 73rd North Eastern Council (NEC) Plenary, scheduled to be held on 4th June, 2026 (Thursday) in Shillong, Meghalaya. The meeting was held this afternoon at the Lok Bhavan Conference Room in Aizawl.

During the review, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh emphasised the Union Government’s strong commitment to the development of the North Eastern states. He urged all line departments to make every possible effort to ensure that Mizoram’s priorities and developmental needs are effectively addressed during the upcoming NEC Plenary, which will be chaired by the Union Home Minister.

Secretary of the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Mr. David Lalthantluanga, gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the follow-up actions taken on the decisions and initiatives concerning Mizoram from the 72nd NEC Plenary held in Agartala, Tripura, in December 2024. He also briefed the meeting on the current status of various ongoing projects under the NEC and the Ministry of DoNER, including NEC-funded projects, NESIDS (Roads), NESIDS (OTRI) and PM-DevINE projects. The officials also discussed and finalised important points to be raised during the NEC Plenary for the overall welfare and development of Mizoram. 

Senior officials who attended the meeting included Mr. Sudhir Kumar, Principal Secretary, GAD; Mr. Udit Prakash Rai, Commissioner & Secretary, Cooperation Department; Mr. Vinod P. Kavle, Commissioner & Secretary to Governor; Mr. V. Lalsangliana, Commissioner & Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department; Mrs. Ramdinliani, Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Department; Mr. David Lalthantluanga, Secretary, Planning & Programme Implementation Department; Mrs. Maria CT Zuali, Secretary, Horticulture Department; Dr. H. Lianzela, Secretary, Commerce & Industries Department; Dr. YLN Reddy, Secretary, Information & Communication Technology and other senior officials.
