Surrendered Maoist Members Tie the Knot; Golu and Sangeeta Begin a New Chapter of Life
Gondia, June 2026 : Fifteen Maoist cadres have surrendered in Maharashtra’s Gondia district, and among them, Pandu Pusu Wadde alias Golu and Saivanti Raising Pandhare alias Sangeeta have begun a new chapter in their lives by getting married. The wedding ceremony was recently held at the Gondia Police Headquarters in the presence of police officers and staff.
Thirty-seven-year-old Pandu Pusu Wadde, a resident of Tirlagad in Pakhanjur tehsil of Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, was known as Golu within the Maoist organisation. He served as a Divisional Committee Member in the Darrekasa area under the CPI (Maoist) outfit.
Thirty-six-year-old Saivanti Raising Pandhare, a resident of Rashimeta in Baihar tehsil of Balaghat district, Madhya Pradesh, was known as Sangeeta in the Maoist organisation. She worked as an Area Committee Member in the Darrekasa Area Committee.
After spending many years in an atmosphere of violence, conflict and uncertainty, both decided to return to the mainstream and surrendered before the Gondia Police on November 28, 2025. Their decision was driven by a desire to live with dignity in society, build a family of their own and secure a peaceful future.
Under the government’s Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy, efforts are underway to facilitate their reintegration into society. This includes the preparation of Aadhaar cards, voter identity cards, bank accounts and other essential documents, along with providing employment-oriented training and rehabilitation assistance.
Inspired by the vision of Superintendent of Police Gorakh Bhamre and under the guidance of Acting Superintendent of Police Abhay Dongre, the wedding ceremony was organised as a symbol of transformation and a new beginning. The event served as a touching and inspiring example of the success of the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
The marriage of the two former Maoist members highlights the possibility of a peaceful and respectable life after leaving the path of extremism. Officials said the event also sends a positive message to Maoist cadres still active in forest regions—that surrendering and joining the mainstream can offer an opportunity to live with dignity, security and happiness.
The ceremony reinforced the belief that every individual deserves a second chance to rebuild their life and establish a meaningful place in society.
The wedding was conducted peacefully at the Prerna Hall of the Police Headquarters in Karanja, Gondia, without any untoward incident. Acting SP Abhay Dongre, Police Inspector (Naxal Cell) Pramod Bhatnate, Reserve Police Inspector Rajesh Sarode, Police Sub-Inspector (Naxal Cell) Shrikant Hattimare, Naxal Operations Cell officer Mallikarjun Vasudev from Deori, and personnel from the Naxal Cell, Intelligence Cell, C-60 unit and Gondia Police Headquarters provided the necessary coordination and support for the successful conduct of the event.
