Chandrababu Naidu Seeks Singapore Partnership in AI, Semiconductors and Amaravati Development

Amaravati, June 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and sought greater cooperation in emerging technologies, urban development and sustainable growth, as the state looks to position itself as a hub for innovation and investment.

The two leaders held a 30-minute meeting at the Singapore Prime Minister’s official residence during Naidu’s two-day visit to the city-state aimed at attracting investments and strengthening strategic partnerships.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Naidu sought Singapore’s support in building a robust semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh and in developing skilled manpower for the sector. He also proposed collaboration in advanced fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, university research and development, and technology-led innovation.

Sharing details of the discussions on social media platform X, Naidu said the meeting explored fresh opportunities for cooperation between Singapore and Andhra Pradesh.

“Our discussions focused on semiconductors, AI, quantum technologies, R&D, university partnerships, urban governance, leadership development, logistics and advanced manufacturing,” the Chief Minister posted.

A key focus of the talks was the development of Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh’s capital city. Naidu briefed Prime Minister Wong on the progress made in building Amaravati as a globally benchmarked city with world-class infrastructure and institutions.

According to the CMO, Wong expressed appreciation for the vision behind Amaravati and conveyed confidence in its future potential. The Singapore Prime Minister reportedly sought details regarding educational institutions, infrastructure and construction projects being developed to international standards.

Naidu stated that Amaravati is poised to emerge as one of the world’s most liveable cities and invited Singapore’s government-linked companies and industry leaders to participate in its growth story.

The two leaders also discussed collaboration in urban governance for Amaravati and other cities across Andhra Pradesh, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and economic opportunity.

Beyond technology and infrastructure, discussions extended to natural farming, aquaculture, food exports and healthcare. Naidu informed Wong about Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to promote natural farming and ensure certification and traceability for agricultural produce.

He also requested Singapore to explore the possibility of importing horticultural and aquaculture products from the state.

The meeting covered clean energy initiatives as well. Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious target of generating 160 gigawatts of green energy and discussed opportunities in green hydrogen and green ammonia.

Both leaders also exchanged views on public health, infrastructure development and demographic challenges, including declining populations in several countries. Measures such as affordable housing and childcare were also part of the discussions.

Naidu proposed that Andhra Pradesh and Singapore work together in sectors such as ports, airports and logistics, further strengthening economic ties between the two regions.

The meeting marked another step in Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to leverage Singapore’s expertise in urban planning, technology and sustainable development as it charts its future growth trajectory.
