Yoga is the Foundation of a Healthy Society: Governor Shri Patel

In his video message, Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel extended his greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of International Day of Yoga. He said that yoga is an invaluable legacy of India’s ancient sage tradition and cultural heritage, now embraced worldwide. This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, conveys the message that it enables people to remain physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy, active and self-reliant even in advancing age.

The Governor stated that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a holistic and scientific practice that establishes harmony among the body, mind, intellect and soul. In today’s stressful lifestyle, marked by irregular routines and health-related challenges, yoga has emerged as an effective means of promoting mental peace, positive energy, and enhanced immunity. He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic also demonstrated that good health is the greatest asset in life.

Governor Shri Patel emphasised that yoga is a vital foundation for building a healthy society. To extend the benefits of yoga and Ayurveda to the last person in society, wellness centres are being established across the state. Efforts are also underway to promote yoga in schools and colleges to empower the younger generation both physically and mentally. He appealed to all citizens not to limit yoga to a single day but to make it an integral part of their daily routine. Practising yoga regularly for 20 to 30 minutes a day can bring positive and transformative changes in the lives of individuals, families, and society. He urged youth, women, and senior citizens to spread awareness about yoga and actively contribute to building a healthy, prosperous, and empowered India.
