Kota Police Hosts Mega Women’s Safety Pledge Event; 4,500 Women Participate in Self-Defence Drive

Jaipur, July 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to the safety, dignity and empowerment of women and girls, Kota City Police organized a large-scale Women’s Safety Pledge Ceremony at Allen Coaching Institute’s Sadgun Auditorium in Landmark City, Kunhadi. Held as part of the month-long Women’s Safety Pledge Campaign, the event witnessed the participation of nearly 4,500 women from diverse sections of society.

The statewide campaign is being conducted under the directions of Rajasthan Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma to strengthen women’s safety through awareness, community engagement and self-defence initiatives.

Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said the event brought together Security Sakhi volunteers, women Community Liaison Group (CLG) members, Anganwadi workers, Rajeevika representatives, NSS and NCC volunteers, NGO members, ANMs, GNMs, ASHA workers, homemakers, women hostel wardens, principals and teachers from schools and colleges, and female students from Allen Coaching Institute.

Addressing the gathering, SP Gautam highlighted several initiatives introduced by Kota Police to enhance women’s safety both on the ground and in the digital space. She explained the functioning of the RajCop Citizen App, Kalika Patrolling Unit, Student Helpline, Garima Helpline, and the Kota Special Operations Group (KSOS), encouraging women to immediately seek police assistance whenever they face any emergency or threatening situation.

A major attraction of the programme was the live self-defence demonstration by members of the Kalika Patrolling Unit. The women police personnel showcased practical techniques that can help women protect themselves during emergencies. Thousands of participants watched the demonstrations and were encouraged to remain alert, confident and prepared to respond to potential threats.

Alongside women’s safety, the programme also focused on combating drug abuse among young people. Police officials provided detailed information about Operation Garudvyuh-2, a special campaign being carried out by Kota Police to curb narcotics and create awareness against substance abuse. During the event, all 4,500 participants took a collective pledge to support the vision of a drug-free India.

The ceremony also honoured women who have made outstanding contributions in different sectors of society and have played an important role in promoting women’s empowerment and public welfare.

Awards were presented to Reena Kumari and Dr. Rinki for their contributions to education and social service. Kiran Sikarwar, Anita Jain, Gauri Sethi, Security Sakhi Pooja Sharma, Neha Pradhan, Zarina Khan, and Jyoti Suwalka were also recognised for their exemplary work.

In the healthcare and grassroots service category, honours were conferred on ANMs Aarti Prajapat and Sheetal Kumari, NCC cadets Divya Prajapati and Ikra Parvez, NSS volunteers Chitransha and Kaveri, Anganwadi workers Rachna and Tripti Gautam, and ASHA workers Mamta and Nagendra Bala.

Women police personnel Renu, Kavita, Harikunwar, Hemkala, Vimla, Kavita, and Sonia were felicitated for their dedicated service in maintaining law and order and ensuring women’s safety.

Several police units were also recognised for their exceptional performance. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Kota, was honoured for successfully tracing and rescuing 40 missing minors and 108 missing adults. The Student Cell and the Women Crime Investigation Cell also received awards for their commendable public service and effective policing initiatives.

The programme was efficiently coordinated by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Women Crime Investigation Cell, Kota City. To maximise public outreach, the entire event was livestreamed on Facebook by the Kota Police Social Media Cell, enabling thousands of viewers to participate virtually.

Police officials noted that the event builds upon earlier outreach initiatives, including an online interaction and self-defence training programme conducted on July 1. Kota Police reiterated that ensuring the safety, security and dignity of every woman and girl remains its highest priority and that community participation will continue to play a central role in achieving that objective.
