Lucknow, January 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hoisted the national flag at his official residence on Monday on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day. He extended warm Republic Day greetings to the people of the state. CM Yogi said that it was on this day in 1950 that the Constitution of India came into force. Over the course of this 76-year journey, the Constitution has witnessed many challenges and transformations, yet despite all odds, it has played a pivotal role in advancing the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.” From north to south and east to west, the Constitution has strengthened national pride, unity, and integrity, enabling the emergence of a New India. The Indian Constitution inspires citizens to connect with the collective spirit of the nation.
Chief Minister Pays Tribute to National Icons
Remembering the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, CM Yogi said that under his leadership the freedom movement reached new heights. He paid homage to the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly and the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad; the chief architect of the Constitution, Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar; the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel; the legendary revolutionary Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose; and all the great sons of India who sacrificed everything for the nation’s independence.
The Constitution Has Been the Nation’s Pillar in All Circumstances
CM Yogi said that India gained independence on August 15, 1947. After the formation of the Constituent Assembly under the leadership of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India adopted its Constitution on November 26, 1949, which is now celebrated nationwide as Constitution Day. It is the duty of every Indian citizen to work with reverence and dedication towards the Constitution, as it has remained the nation’s guiding force in both favorable and adverse situations. The phrase “We, the People of India” serves as a source of inspiration for every citizen. The true guardian of the Constitution is the citizen of India, and every institution, ministry, and department must ensure accountability towards the people. This reflects our commitment to constitutional values.
Every Citizen’s Duty: Respect and Commitment to the Constitution
The Chief Minister said that disrespecting the core values of the Constitution amounts to disrespecting the great heroes whose sacrifices secured India’s freedom. It is the responsibility of every citizen to uphold reverence and dedication towards the Constitution. This sacred document guides the nation through every challenge. Along with strengthening unity and integrity, efforts must continue to ensure justice, fraternity, and equality reach every citizen.
Emphasis on the Three Constitutional Values: Justice, Equality, and Fraternity
CM Yogi highlighted that justice, equality, and fraternity are the three fundamental pillars of the Constitution. Every citizen must receive justice without discrimination, irrespective of caste, religion, language, or region. An environment of equality and fraternity will accelerate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. A developed India is not only about economic growth, but also about the happiness and enhanced prosperity of every citizen. This journey must begin with those at the grassroots level and progress through collective self-reliance.
These Three Values Established India as the World’s Largest Democracy
Quoting Prime Minister Modi, CM Yogi said that justice, equality, and fraternity have played the most significant role in establishing India as the world’s largest democracy. Before independence, several conspiracies were hatched to divide society on linguistic, regional, and caste lines, but none could endure. Whenever attempts are made to weaken the Constitution’s core values, voices rise in defense of justice and constitutional principles. The Constitution continues to inspire unity through collective consciousness.
‘Nation First’ Spirit Will Strengthen National Resolve
The Chief Minister said that anyone who considers themselves above justice, the Constitution, or the system is undermining the Constitution. No individual can claim absolute authority. Republic Day renews our commitment to constitutional values and national resolve. Referring to the guiding principle of national leaders—“Nation First”—CM Yogi said that the Constitution itself is a document rooted in this spirit, and it will continue to strengthen the country’s determination and progress.
