60,000 youth, including 20% females, will get opportunity in police recruitment drive: CM Yogi

Ambedkar Nagar : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Saturday, said that August will be a pivotal month for Uttar Pradesh, with key dates set for the state’s largest-ever police recruitment drive. Scheduled for August 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31, this recruitment drive is unprecedented in scale and transparency, offering youth from every district the chance to participate. A notable 20 percent of the positions in this recruitment will be reserved for women.

The Chief Minister made the announcements while addressing the district level mega employment and loan fair organized at Dev Indravati Mahavidyalaya located in Ambedkar Nagar Katehari. He said, “These women will play a vital role in maintaining law and order, effectively dealing with criminal elements across the state. Be it mafias or criminals, no one will be allowed to jeopardize the future of the youth.”

Recalling the past when corruption and extortion were widespread, CM Yogi stated that the era of ‘chacha-bhatija’ gangs extorting money is over. He emphasized that anyone involved in such activities will have their property confiscated and redistributed to the needy. No dishonest individuals, criminals, or those inciting anarchy will be tolerated in the state.

During the program, a total of 2,500 youths were provided certificates, 5,100 students were given tablets and loans worth Rs 211 crore were distributed.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the youth at the holy site of ‘Shravan’ in the auspicious month of Sawan. He offered his respects to the sacred land and extended greetings to all citizens, particularly the farmers who contribute to the region’s sustenance.

He highlighted his visit to the Rozgar Mela, where he observed stalls from 46 companies, the efforts of women volunteers, and the initiatives of local entrepreneurs. He noted with satisfaction the transformation of Ambedkar Nagar, which was once known for criminal and anarchic activities, into a region now flourishing with new industries and job opportunities for youth.

“Ambedkar Nagar is not only a witness to the transformation journey of Ayodhya Dham but is also reaping its benefits. The district benefits from key infrastructure projects, including the Purvanchal and Gorakhpur Link Expressways. The development of an industrial corridor and the construction of industrial townships along these expressways are set to provide local employment opportunities, further enhancing the region’s economic landscape,” Yogi added.

He said that in the Investor Summit held in February 2023, the state received investment proposals totaling Rs 40 lakh crore, promising employment opportunities for 1.35 crore youth. Specifically, Ambedkar Nagar has attracted investment proposals worth Rs 6,000 crore from the summit, with several projects already underway.

CM Yogi also highlighted that 46 companies participating in the current program are set to create 21,000 jobs in the district. These companies are committed to ensuring placement for the youth. Additionally, he mentioned that banks are offering interest-free loans through various government schemes, including ODOP and PM Vishwakarma, to support aspiring entrepreneurs in setting up MSMEs.

Reflecting on the progress, CM Yogi contrasted the current state of Uttar Pradesh with the past, recalling a time when basic resources like books were scarce. Today, however, the government has provided tab-smartphones to 2 crore youth and is implementing PM and CM Apprenticeship Programs to enhance technical skills. He praised Uttar Pradesh for its transformation from a perceived dark spot to a leading growth engine for the country, contributing significantly to India’s GDP and emerging as a model of law and order.

“The state, once troubled by riots and crime, is now viewed with respect and has become a dream destination for development and government employment,” he added.

He highlighted the Prime Minister’s commitment to the Mission Rozgar initiative, which aims to fulfill the aspirations of the youth. Aligning with his vision, the government is providing essential services to the people, including free electricity connections to 1.56 crore families, health insurance for 5.11 crore individuals, and free ration for 15 crore people. He noted that the land for the Katehari stadium has been approved, a project that will enhance opportunities for youth engagement and sportsmanship.

“When the youth engage in sports, they win, and their victories elevate the nation’s honor. Our government has duly recognized the athletes who have earned medals. Hockey player Lalit Upadhyay and athlete Parul Chaudhary have been appointed as Deputy SP in acknowledgment of their achievements,“ he added.

The Chief Minister extended Rakshabandhan greeting in advance. He highlighted that on this occasion, all the sisters and daughters will get the facility of free travel in the buses of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. He also mentioned the upcoming occasion of Janmashtamion August 26 and 27.

Addressing the people of Ambedkarnagar, he said, “Your district is now crime free, but if any criminal is left, we will deal with him too. There is no need to worry, the government is with you.”

On this occasion, State Government’s Water Power Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Fisheries Minister Dr. Sanjay Nishad, Vocational Education Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal and Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav along with other dignitaries were present.
