Development Project of Maa Bamleshwari Devi Temple, Dongargarh Completed Under PRASAD Scheme
Raipur, February 2026 : The development project of Maa Bamleshwari Devi Temple, Dongargarh, under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) Scheme has been successfully completed. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, approved Rs. 48.43 crore for this project, which was executed by the Tourism Department, Government of Chhattisgarh.
The project involved comprehensive improvements at the temple hill, including restoration of steps, installation of sheds and railings, provision of drinking water, toilets, and solar lighting, and beautification of the pond at the base of the hill. Additional facilities such as shops, parking, and signages throughout the area were also developed.
Within the Pragnagiri complex, a meditation center, cafeteria, parking, renovated steps, solar lighting, and drinking water facilities were provided for devotees. A 9.5-acre tourist facilitation center has been constructed for pilgrims, designed in the shape of a Sri Yantra. The center includes a meditation hall, rest rooms, prasad distribution hall, cultural stage, cloakroom, satsang hall, drinking water, toilets, landscaping, solar lighting, parking, and entry facilities, among other amenities. While the main construction is complete, only finishing works remain.
A monitoring committee and a steering committee have been formed to periodically review the project. Payments to workers are being made as per regulations. The construction work was carried out by TCIL, the contracted agency of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, which is affiliated with the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.
This project highlights the state’s commitment to enhancing pilgrim infrastructure, spiritual tourism, and cultural heritage, providing devotees and visitors with a safe, modern, and well-equipped environment to worship and explore.
