Political Differences Are Matters of Politics, Not Personal Animosity: Deputy CM Sharma
Raipur, February 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma emphasized that political differences should remain a matter of policy and debate, not personal enmity. He stated that reviewing cases registered with malicious intent and taking lawful action to safeguard democratic rights is essential.
A cabinet sub-committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy CM and Home Minister Vijay Sharma to review the withdrawal of cases registered during the previous government against political organizations, non-political groups, social organizations, and employee unions. The committee focused on cases filed with a vengeful mindset and sought to ensure democratic safeguards through proper legal procedures.
The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Arun Saw, Women & Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade, Member Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manoj Pingwa, Law Secretary Sushma Sawant, CID Inspector General Dhruv Gupta, and Additional Director of Prosecution K.S. Gavaskar.
During the discussions, the sub-committee examined cases related to public order violations, obstruction of public servants, and other serious charges during political movements, as well as movements organized by non-political, social, and employee groups. The committee resolved to recommend these cases to the cabinet for review and approval. Additionally, the committee instructed the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to ensure continuous monitoring and swift resolution of previously recommended case withdrawals.
After the meeting, Deputy CM Sharma stated that democratic dissent must always be respected in politics. “Politics is a matter of differences, not personal animosity,” he said. He explained that under the previous government, numerous cases were registered against political activists and other organizations due to political malice. The current review also includes movements organized by non-political, social, and employee groups, where cases had been filed vindictively; all such cases will now be withdrawn.
Sharma clarified that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the current government has resolved to review such malicious cases seriously and take lawful action wherever possible to protect democratic rights and provide relief to the public from unnecessary litigation.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring justice, transparency, and the rule of law while promoting an environment where citizens and organizations can exercise their democratic rights without fear of harassment.
