Approval Granted to Use Blockchain Technology for Faster Access to 5% Sports Quota Benefits
Mumbai: To ensure that sportspersons receive the benefits of the 5 per cent reservation in meritorious government and semi-government services in a transparent, speedy and error-free manner, the School Education and Sports Department has approved the use of blockchain technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This information was shared by District Sports Officer Rashmi Ambedkar.
Rashmi Ambedkar stated that all recognized single-sport associations that organize competitions at the state and national levels will now be required to upload the final results of competitions, the list of participating players, and mark sheets to the Directorate within seven days of the conclusion of the event for official record-keeping. All such information must be digitally certified through digital signatures by authorized office-bearers of the respective sports associations.
If the required information is not uploaded within the stipulated timeframe, the concerned sports associations will be included in the defaulter list. Additionally, players must upload their ‘Sports e-Certificates’ on the official website of the Sports Department. The data uploaded by both the players and the sports associations will be verified online through the new system.
With the implementation of this technology-driven mechanism, sportspersons will no longer need to visit departmental offices in person or submit physical documents for verification. As a result, eligible players will be able to avail the 5 per cent reservation benefits more quickly and conveniently.
District Sports Officer Rashmi Ambedkar has appealed to all sportspersons and sports associations to extend full cooperation to the Sports Department for the successful implementation of this new system.
