Raipur, February 2026 : A meeting of the Chhattisgarh Council of Ministers was held today at Mahanadi Bhavan in the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, during which several important decisions were taken.

  1. The Council of Ministers approved the Governor’s Address for the Eighth Session of the Sixth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, scheduled to be held during February–March 2026.
  2. The Cabinet approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2026, for presentation in the Legislative Assembly along with the Budget Estimates for the financial year 2026–27.
  3. In a major decision benefiting farmers, the Cabinet approved the one-time payment of the differential amount to farmers who sold paddy at the Minimum Support Price, at the rate of ₹3,100 per quintal, before the festival of Holi. During the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26, a total of 141.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured from 25,24,339 farmers. Under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, the Chhattisgarh Government will make a one-time payment of approximately ₹10,000 crore towards the price difference of paddy before Holi.

It is noteworthy that under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, the Chhattisgarh Government is procuring up to 21 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers at the rate of ₹3,100 per quintal, which is the highest in the country. Over the past two years, more than ₹25,000 crore has already been paid to farmers as the paddy price differential under this scheme. With an additional ₹10,000 crore to be paid before Holi this year, the total amount disbursed under the scheme will rise to ₹35,000 crore.
