MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora Raises Issue of Bandha Road Widening in Assembly, Demands Immediate Start of Pending Work

Lucknow, February 2026: Lucknow North MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora on Monday strongly raised the long-pending issue of the widening of Bandha Road during the ongoing session of the Legislative Assembly. Drawing the government’s attention to the serious problems faced by residents of the area, he urged that all stalled work related to this crucial road project be started without further delay.

Addressing the House, Dr. Bora said that Bandha Road is one of the busiest and most important roads in Lucknow city, used daily by thousands of commuters. The road connects several key localities and serves as a vital link for residents, students, office-goers, and emergency services. However, due to the prolonged delay in the widening project, the road has become a major bottleneck, leading to frequent traffic jams, accidents, and widespread inconvenience to the public.

The MLA informed the Assembly that the proposal for widening Bandha Road had already been approved and that most of the required administrative and procedural formalities had been completed. Despite this, construction work has not yet begun, causing growing frustration, anger, and disappointment among local residents. He pointed out that the narrow width of the road, coupled with encroachments and steadily increasing traffic volume, has made daily commuting extremely difficult and unsafe.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Dr. Bora specifically mentioned that several educational institutions, hospitals, and densely populated residential areas are located along Bandha Road. Due to the absence of road widening, students face daily delays, patients struggle to reach hospitals on time, and residents endure long traffic snarls. He emphasized that during the monsoon season, the condition of the road deteriorates further, increasing the risk of accidents and making movement even more challenging.

Dr. Bora urged the government to immediately remove all obstacles related to the Bandha Road widening project and to begin construction work on a priority basis. He stressed that the issue should not be viewed merely as a routine infrastructure project, but as a matter directly linked to traffic management, public safety, and the overall development of the Lucknow North Assembly constituency.

Speaking further in the House, the MLA cautioned that if timely action is not taken, traffic pressure on Bandha Road will intensify in the coming years due to rapid urban expansion and rising vehicle numbers. This, he warned, would severely disrupt daily life and negatively impact economic and social activities in the area. He appealed to the government to take a proactive and people-centric approach in resolving the issue.

Dr. Bora expressed confidence that the government would consider the matter seriously and take a positive decision in the larger public interest. He said that early commencement of the widening work would not only ease traffic congestion but also improve road safety and enhance the quality of life for thousands of residents.

The issue raised by Dr. Neeraj Bora has renewed hope among the people of the Lucknow North Assembly constituency that the long-awaited widening of Bandha Road will finally begin soon, bringing lasting relief from a problem that has persisted for years.
