TVK Executive Council Meet in Vellore Scaled Down to Administrative Session with Tight Security
Vellore, Feb 2026 : The executive council meeting of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, will be held on Monday, February 23, at Agaramcheri in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Party sources confirmed that the meeting has been formally reclassified as an administrative executive council session rather than a public rally, following directions from the local police administration.
According to the party, a total of 4,900 delegates will take part in the meeting. The event was originally envisioned as a large public gathering, with organisers expecting close to 25,000 attendees. Preparations had begun to level a sprawling 33-acre site at Agaramcheri to accommodate the anticipated crowd and stage arrangements. However, after an inspection of the venue, the Vellore Superintendent of Police issued a notice outlining 20 conditions and sought a written clarification from the party regarding safety, crowd control, and traffic management.
After reviewing TVK’s response, authorities directed that the programme be scaled down. In compliance with these instructions, the party revised the format, converting the planned public rally into a closed-door executive council meeting. Attendance has now been strictly capped at 4,900 participants.
To regulate entry, all delegates will be issued identity cards embedded with QR codes. Only those carrying authorised ID cards will be allowed inside the venue, ensuring controlled access and adherence to security protocols. The meeting is scheduled to be held from noon to 4 p.m.
Organisers have made extensive logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the session. Canopies will be set up at 10 designated points across the venue, along with adequate seating facilities. To address hydration needs, 50,000 water bottles have been arranged, and drinking water tanks with a combined capacity of 6,000 litres have been installed.
Medical preparedness has also been strengthened. Ten medical teams, comprising 30 doctors, 100 nurses, and 100 medical assistants, will be stationed at the site. In addition, 15 ambulances will remain on standby throughout the event. A volunteer force of around 500 members, including 50 women volunteers, has been deployed to assist with crowd management and coordination. These volunteers recently underwent security training conducted by retired police sub-inspector Sabiyullah.
The police department has announced the deployment of around 900 personnel to maintain law and order. As the venue is located close to the Chennai–Bengaluru National Highway, authorities said traffic on the highway and its service roads will be maintained, though diversions will be in place on the Agaramcheri–Pallikuppam road.
Officials also noted that since Vijay will travel by road from Chennai on Monday, strict measures will be enforced to prevent unauthorised vehicles from following his convoy, ensuring security and minimal disruption.
