DK Shivakumar Rallies Behind CM Siddaramaiah Amid MUDA Scam Heat.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has thrown his full support behind Chief Minister Siddaramaiah amid the ongoing allegations of a scam involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). This comes a day after the Karnataka High Court directed the trial court to refrain from taking any action against Siddaramaiah based on the Governor’s sanction until the next hearing. The alleged scam has sparked significant political tension, but Shivakumar remains resolute in his defense of the Chief Minister.

In a recent statement, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar expressed his unwavering faith in the judicial system, stating, “We respect the court; we respect the law of this country. The High Court will give us relief. There is nothing wrong with the CM. There is no need for prosecution. The inquiry will be conducted, and all the necessary documents will be submitted to the High Court.” His remarks underscore the confidence within the government that Siddaramaiah will be exonerated of all charges.

When questioned about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) demands for Siddaramaiah’s resignation, Shivakumar firmly dismissed the notion. “There is no question of resigning. He will continue as the CM and work in the interest of the state and the country,” he declared, emphasizing that Siddaramaiah’s leadership remains crucial for Karnataka’s progress, and any talk of resignation is premature and unfounded.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself addressed the allegations, describing them as politically motivated. He reiterated his full faith in the judiciary, stating, “BJP is politically motivated. I have full faith in the judiciary.” His comments reflect a deep-seated belief that the truth will eventually come to light, despite the opposition’s attempts to undermine his administration.

On Monday, the Karnataka High Court postponed its August 29 hearing on Siddaramaiah’s plea challenging the Governor’s sanction to prosecute him over the alleged MUDA scam. Siddaramaiah responded by reaffirming his trust in the Constitution and the judiciary’s ability to deliver justice. He took to social media to emphasize that, as a law-abiding citizen, he is confident the truth will prevail.

In his post on platform X, Siddaramaiah elaborated on his decision to approach the High Court, stating, “As a law-abiding citizen with faith in the Constitution and the judiciary’s power to uphold justice and fairness, I approached the High Court of Karnataka against the illegal and politically motivated decision of the Governor of Karnataka to permit an inquiry and prosecution based on trumped-up allegations against me. I am pleased that the Hon’ble High Court heard the matter and passed interim orders directing the concerned court to defer the proceedings.”

Siddaramaiah also expressed his gratitude towards the High Court for its interim orders, which instructed the trial court not to take any precipitative action under the contested sanction. “I am grateful to the High Court and remain confident that ultimately, the truth will prevail,” he added, signaling his hope that the judicial process will vindicate him.

The Karnataka High Court’s decision to hold off on any action against Siddaramaiah until the next hearing has provided a temporary reprieve for the Chief Minister. A bench led by Justice M. Nagaprasanna has scheduled the next hearing for August 29, where Siddaramaiah’s legal team, led by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, will continue to argue that the Governor’s sanction lacked merit and was not supported by any substantive reasons. Singhvi has pointed out that the Governor’s sanction was issued in a brief two-page order, disregarding the necessity of following the Cabinet’s decisions in such matters.

This case stems from a complaint filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna, accusing Siddaramaiah and nine others of forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority. The allegations have undoubtedly stirred political waters in Karnataka, but with strong support from his party and the legal defense being mounted, Siddaramaiah remains steadfast in his belief that justice will ultimately be served.
