Indian Postal System Transformed under Prime Minister Shri Modi’s Leadership: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the Indian postal system has consistently played a vital and meaningful role in serving the interests of citizens. He stated that the system, which traces its origins to the British era, has steadily evolved and adapted over time to meet the changing needs. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, decisive reforms have been introduced in the postal sector, and concrete initiatives have been undertaken to strengthen the role of the Department of Posts.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav remarked that the department, which once focused solely on delivering letters, has now progressed to launching a new postal service for delivering Baba Mahakal prasad to the public. Through post offices, citizens are availing themselves of insurance schemes and savings schemes. From opening accounts to providing fast and efficient services such as Speed Post, the department has been actively serving the customer interests. He emphasised that Gramin Dak Sevaks form the strong foundation of India’s rural economy.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed the Rural Postal Conference held on Tuesday at the Kartik Mela Ground on the banks of the Shipra River in Ujjain. The event was presided over by Union Minister for Communications Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Felicitation of Rural Postal Heroes

While welcoming the postal personnel, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Gramin Dak Sevaks, who tirelessly deliver postal and other essential public services to villages, play a highly significant role in nation-building. During the event, he felicitated outstanding Gramin Dak Sevaks of Madhya Pradesh for their exemplary work.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and Union Minister Shri Scindia jointly launched a new postal parcel service to deliver prasad from Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain and Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple to devotees across the country. The dignitaries also released pictorial postcards featuring prominent tourist attractions of Ujjain.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav described Gramin Dak Sevaks as’our soldiers and our strength’. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, the Department of Posts is functioning efficiently and scaling new heights. He statyed that India has had a rich tradition of postal services since ancient times, and postal workers have always commanded respect in society. In the changing era, post offices across the country are functioning with increasing speed and efficiency. He said that the Department of Posts is being made technologically advanced, with 100 per cent computerisation and digitisation underway. Apart from disseminating information to every corner of the country, the department is playing a vital role in several essential public services. Under the leadership of Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, the department is scaling new heights. In Madhya Pradesh alone, more than 16,800 Gramin Dak Sevaks are actively contributing to the strengthening of the rural economy.

Indian Post to be Established as the Largest Logistics Force: Union Minister Shri Scindia

Union Minister for Communications Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia said that all Gramin Dak Sevaks are members of his extended family. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, the Department of Posts is playing a crucial role in the country’s development.

Union Minister Shri Scindia stated that several measures have been taken to strengthen the department technologically. The government is committed to establishing India Post as the world’s largest logistics force. He compared Gramin Dak Sevaks to soldiers, serving fearlessly across deserts, mountain peaks, plains and remote regions where others may hesitate to go. Regardless of harsh weather conditions, heat, cold, or rain, they continue to fulfil their duties with dedication. Ensuring dignity and respect for Gramin Dak Sevaks remains a firm commitment of the government.

Union Minister Shri Scindia, highlighting their contribution, said that Gramin Dak Sevaks have played a major role in opening nearly 30 crore post office savings accounts with deposits amounting to approximately ₹22 lakh crore. Across the country, 3.8 crore Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened through their efforts. They have also contributed significantly to the issuance of 2 crore passports and the distribution of more than 15 crore Aadhaar cards. He announced that the children of Gramin Dak Sevaks will now be eligible for admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas. Post offices will be developed as profit centres, and they will play a significant role in the parcel distribution sector. Advanced digital and tracking systems will be implemented to ensure 100% delivery efficiency. Electric vehicles will be used for services in remote areas, and drones will also be deployed.

Union Minister Shri ScindiaScindia further stated that the department is focusing on technological efficiency, customer trust, courteous service, and on-time delivery. Special emphasis is being placed on defined timelines, such as ensuring parcel delivery within 24 to 48 hours.

The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Smt. Savitri Thakur, Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, Member of Parliament Shri Anil Firojiya, Rajya Sabha Member Shri Umesh Nath Ji Maharaj, MLA Shri Anil Jain Kalukheda, Ujjain Mayor Shri Mukesh Tatwal, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Smt. Kalavati Yadav, Shri Sanjay Agrawal, Shri Rajendra Bharti, other public representatives, and a large number of Gramin Dak Sevaks.
