Sachin Tendulkar, Roger Federer Reunite at Wimbledon as Sporting Icons Celebrate Enduring Friendship

New Delhi, July 2026 : Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared a heartfelt tribute to tennis great Roger Federer after the two sporting icons reunited at Wimbledon, celebrating a friendship that has transcended their respective sports and continued long after their illustrious playing careers.

Posting a picture of their meeting on social media platform X, Tendulkar reflected on their enduring bond with an emotional message: “Some rallies never end. Our friendship is one of them. Always a pleasure spending time with you, Roger. Until we meet again.”

The reunion was among the highlights of another memorable visit to the All England Club for Tendulkar, who was invited to the prestigious Royal Box during Friday’s men’s singles semifinal. The former India captain joined an elite gathering of sporting personalities to witness Germany’s Alexander Zverev defeat Britain’s Arthur Fery in straight sets and secure a place in his maiden Wimbledon final.

Tendulkar was accompanied by several prominent figures from the sporting world, including India ODI captain Shubman Gill, who experienced the unique atmosphere of Wimbledon from the Royal Box for the first time. Gill, currently enjoying a short break before India’s upcoming ODI series against England later this month, took the opportunity to witness one of tennis’ most iconic tournaments up close.

Another nostalgic moment came when Tendulkar interacted with West Indies batting legend Brian Lara. The meeting rekindled memories of one of cricket’s greatest rivalries, with the two batting maestros having thrilled fans for over a decade through their remarkable performances for India and the West Indies.

Although fierce competitors during their international careers, Tendulkar and Lara have since shared the field as teammates in exhibition games and charity matches, reflecting the mutual respect that has always existed between the two cricketing greats.

The Royal Box also featured an impressive list of distinguished guests from across the sporting landscape. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe, and several other internationally renowned athletes were present, highlighting Wimbledon’s reputation as one of the world’s premier sporting occasions that attracts champions from multiple disciplines.

The day’s on-court action proved equally memorable. Alexander Zverev produced a commanding display to end British wildcard Arthur Fery’s fairytale run with a 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4 victory in the semifinal.

The German second seed overcame a closely contested opening set before taking complete control of the match, silencing the home crowd with an impressive all-round performance. The victory earned Zverev his first-ever Wimbledon final appearance and extended his remarkable run of form following his maiden Grand Slam triumph at Roland Garros last month.

The win also marked Zverev’s 13th consecutive victory in Grand Slam competition and secured his place in a fifth major final, reinforcing his status as one of the game’s leading contenders.

While the semifinal showcased world-class tennis, it was the reunion between Tendulkar and Federer that captured the imagination of sports fans across the globe. Their meeting served as a reminder that the friendships forged through excellence and mutual admiration often outlast competitive careers.

As two of the greatest ambassadors their respective sports have ever produced, Tendulkar and Federer continue to inspire millions around the world—not only through their achievements but also through the grace, humility and lasting camaraderie they have displayed both on and off the field.
