ACB Registers Disproportionate Assets Case Against Police Inspector, Raids Multiple Properties in Jammu and Rajouri

Jammu, Feb 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday registered a case of disproportionate assets against police inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary, who is the brother of Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary.

In an official statement, the ACB said the case was registered following a detailed verification initiated on the basis of specific and credible inputs. The verification pertained to allegations that Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary had amassed assets far beyond his known and lawful sources of income during his service in the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

According to the ACB, the verification revealed that while posted at various locations over the course of his career, the accused allegedly accumulated assets worth several crores of rupees. These assets were found to be highly disproportionate to his legitimate income as a public servant. The officer is a resident of Nonial village in Nowshera area of Rajouri district and is presently residing at Santokh Vihar in the Kaluchack area of Jammu. At the time of verification, he was posted in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

The investigation further brought to light that the accused had allegedly acquired more than 10 immovable properties, including residential houses, shops and plots of land. These properties reportedly span nearly 100 kanals and are valued at several crores of rupees. The ACB stated that many of these properties were registered in the names of his family members, relatives and other associates, raising serious suspicion of benami transactions.

On the basis of the verification findings, the Anti-Corruption Bureau concluded that a prima facie case of criminal misconduct was made out against the accused under the relevant provisions of law. Consequently, a formal case was registered and a full-fledged investigation was taken up to ascertain the extent and sources of the alleged disproportionate assets.

During the course of the investigation, the ACB obtained search warrants from the court of the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu. Acting on these warrants, multiple ACB teams carried out coordinated searches at several locations linked to the accused. These included his residential premises at Santokh Vihar in Kaluchack, Jammu; his ancestral house at Nonial in Nowshera, Rajouri; and his business establishments, including a stone crusher unit and a tile factory located at Tutte di Khui in Bajalta area of Jammu.

The agency said that based on information that emerged during the investigation, searches were also conducted at additional locations in Jammu. During these operations, officials recovered and seized several incriminating documents believed to be relevant to the case.

The ACB confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that further action will be taken based on the analysis of the seized material and subsequent findings.
