Telangana Government to Partner with Harvard University for Global Executive Training of Senior Officers
Hon’ble Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced that the Telangana State Government will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Harvard University to provide international-standard executive training for senior government officials. Addressing the valedictory ceremony of Group-I and Group-II officers at the Dr. MCR Human Resource Development Institute (MCRHRDI), the Chief Minister said that Harvard University has, in principle, agreed to conduct these advanced training programs locally in Hyderabad, enabling officers to gain global exposure without leaving the state.

Congratulating 271 Group-I and 175 Group-II officers on the successful completion of their foundation course, the Chief Minister lauded their dedication and commitment. After visiting a photo exhibition showcasing their field visits, he reminded the newly inducted officers that they now serve as the “eyes and ears” of the government. He stressed that they carry the responsibility of effectively implementing “Praja Palana” (People’s Governance) and ensuring responsive administration for nearly four crore citizens of Telangana.
In his address, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged the officers to take inspiration from legendary civil servant S. R. Sankaran, known for his lifelong commitment to social justice and the welfare of marginalized communities. He emphasized that laws, rules, and procedures are meant to facilitate public service rather than obstruct it. While adherence to rules is important, he advised officers to rely equally on common sense, compassion, and empathy, particularly when addressing the needs of the poor and vulnerable.
Highlighting the state government’s commitment to meritocracy, the Chief Minister stated that the Telangana State Public Service Commission was thoroughly revamped to ensure transparency and fairness in recruitment. He noted that despite legal challenges and attempts to derail the examination process, the government stood firmly by the candidates. This resolve, he said, ensured that deserving and hardworking youth could realize their aspirations of entering public service.
A major social reform initiative was also announced during the ceremony. The Chief Minister revealed that the government plans to introduce a new law in the upcoming Budget Session to ensure that government employees take proper care of their parents. Under the proposed legislation, if an employee is found to be neglecting their parents, a portion of their salary would be deducted and directly credited to the parents’ bank accounts. He described this move as an effort to reinforce social responsibility and respect for elders within society.
Concluding his address, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy called upon the officers to uphold integrity, honesty, and dedication throughout their careers spanning 30 to 35 years. He reminded them that public service is not merely a profession, but a lifelong bond with the people of Telangana—a region with a rich history of struggle for dignity, equality, and social justice. He urged them to serve with humility and a deep sense of purpose.
The ceremony was attended by Government Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Director General of MCRHRDI and Chief Secretary Shanthi Kumari, along with other senior officials of the institute.
