Mizo Youth Begin Japanese Language Training for Employment Opportunities in Japan

Aizawl : This afternoon, a program was held at the LESDE Department Auditorium, MINECO, to launch the Japanese language training for Mizo youth who are set to work in Japan, facilitated through a Delhi-based initiative.

The event was presided over by Pi Angela Zothanpuii, Director of the LESDE Department, who highlighted the continuous efforts of the department, in collaboration with NSDC, to provide essential skills training for youth in a conscientious and systematic manner. She also mentioned that the department plans to expand its initiatives further. The LESDE Director emphasized that the Japan SSW (Specified Skilled Worker) program is being carried out under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. She provided important guidance for those who will be part of this training.

Pi Ellen Lalnunmawii, the State Engagement Coordinator, elaborated on the Japan SSW program, noting that there are currently 16 Mizo youth employed as caregivers in Japan, with 14 others undergoing or awaiting training. She announced that an additional 30 Mizo youth will soon commence their training.

These 23 selected youth will undergo nine months of Japanese language training in Delhi. After completing this training, and upon verification of their necessary documents by potential employers, they will be eligible to start working in Japan.

The event was also attended by the Joint Director, Deputy Director, and other officers of the LESDE Department, along with other departmental officials. The 23 selected youth, accompanied by their families, were also present at the program.
