Chief Secretary Reviews Summer Drinking Water Arrangements and Upcoming Events
Jaipur, March 2026 : V. Srinivas, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, chaired a review meeting at the state Secretariat on Friday through video conference to assess preparations for ensuring smooth drinking water supply during the upcoming summer season. During the meeting, he also reviewed preparations for International Women’s Day (March 8) and Civil Services Day 2026 (April 21) and issued necessary directions to officials.
The Chief Secretary sought details of the arrangements made to ensure uninterrupted water supply across the state during the summer months. He directed officials to resolve complaints received on the helpline number 181 within a stipulated time and take strict action against illegal water connections. District collectors and concerned officials were instructed to continuously monitor water supply systems through weekly review meetings and field visits so that the public receives timely relief.
During the meeting, it was informed that to ensure uninterrupted water supply during the summer season, ₹1 crore has been sanctioned for each district. Officials were instructed to complete arrangements for vehicles and labour for the hand pump repair campaign by March 10. In addition, water transportation rates will be determined and all work orders for emergency tasks must be issued by March 15. District collectors were also directed to monitor schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure their smooth functioning and to restart any stalled projects. Areas facing drinking water shortages will be identified and water supply through tankers will be ensured with the support of local administration.
International Women’s Day to be Celebrated with Enthusiasm
Chief Secretary V. Srinivas also reviewed preparations for International Women’s Day, which will be celebrated on March 8. Bhawani Singh Detha, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, presented the district-wise programme plan for the occasion.
The Chief Secretary said that it is important for women to be aware of the various government schemes aimed at empowering them and making them self-reliant. He added that the day can be effectively used to promote and spread awareness about these initiatives.
Civil Services Day 2026
Speaking about Civil Services Day 2026, the Chief Secretary said that participating in the event is a meaningful experience and helps make the administrative system more responsible and people-centric. He urged officials to work with honesty, sensitivity, and transparency.
He added that honouring officers who perform outstanding work, introduce innovations, and effectively implement welfare schemes in districts helps people understand the impact of administrative efforts. He encouraged secretaries and officers to submit maximum applications for the CM Excellence Award.
Dinesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Administrative Reforms and Coordination Department, presented the detailed programme outline for Civil Services Day 2026. He informed that applications for the CM Excellence Award can be submitted until March 23. The main session of Civil Services Day will also include ceremonial photographs and discussions on current issues. National Civil Services Day is observed every year on April 21.
The meeting was attended by Rajesh Yadav, Director General of HCM-RIPA; Debashish Prusti, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department; Ravi Kumar Surpur, Secretary of the Information Technology and Communication Department; Sandesh Nayak, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister; Dr. Ravindra Goswami, Joint Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department; along with other senior officials. Divisional commissioners, departmental secretaries, and district collectors also participated in the meeting through video conference.
