Jaipur, June 2026 : Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani offered prayers to the sacred Sindhu (Indus) River and Lord Jhulelal at the holy Sindhu Ghat during the first-ever Sindhu Kumbh held in Leh-Ladakh, praying for peace, prosperity, progress, and well-being for the nation, the state, and society.

The event witnessed participation from more than 3,500 devotees representing nearly 20 states across India, creating an atmosphere that reflected the spirit of a “Mini India” on the banks of the historic river. More than 500 devotees from Rajasthan travelled to Leh-Ladakh to take part in the spiritual gathering.

People from diverse linguistic, cultural, and regional backgrounds came together under one roof, showcasing India’s rich cultural unity and harmony.

Sindhu Kumbh Reflects the Spirit of Mini India

Thousands of devotees, saints, social leaders, and distinguished guests from across the country gathered on the banks of the Indus River on Wednesday for the inaugural Sindhu Kumbh.

Prominent personalities attending the event included Mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara, several revered saints, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Indresh Kumar, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, and Tripura Assembly Speaker Ram Pada Jamatia, among others. Their participation added significance and prestige to the historic event.

Indus River Emerging as India’s Fifth Spiritual Centre

Addressing the gathering, Devnani said the Indus River is far more than a water body; it is an eternal symbol of India’s civilisation, culture, and national identity.

“The banks of the Indus are deeply connected with the creation of the Vedas and Upanishads. It is also believed that Lord Jhulelal manifested on the sacred banks of this river. The region has played a crucial role in the development of India’s ancient knowledge traditions,” he said.

He noted that the remarkable convergence of faith, culture, and national unity witnessed at the Sindhu Kumbh is gradually transforming the Indus riverfront into what can be regarded as India’s fifth spiritual dham, alongside the country’s most revered pilgrimage centres.

Devnani further highlighted that Lord Jhulelal’s teachings emphasised love, harmony, service, water conservation, and public welfare, values that remain relevant in contemporary society.

Pledge for Environmental Protection and Social Awareness

As part of the celebrations, participants took pledges to promote environmental conservation, water preservation, cleanliness, and a drug-free society.

Devnani urged citizens to incorporate these commitments into their daily lives, stressing that Sindhu Kumbh is not merely a religious gathering but a grand celebration of India’s cultural unity, spiritual heritage, national pride, and collective identity.

“This event serves as an important platform for reconnecting people with their cultural roots while strengthening the spirit of national integration,” he said.

Rapid Development of the Indus Riverfront

The Assembly Speaker noted that the Indus riverbanks have undergone remarkable development in recent years, attracting increasing interest from pilgrims and visitors.

“The area has evolved into a significant spiritual destination in line with public aspirations. Every Indian should visit this sacred place at least once and experience its spiritual and cultural significance,” Devnani said.

The first Sindhu Kumbh has thus emerged as a powerful symbol of India’s unity in diversity, bringing together people from across the nation on the historic banks of the river that nurtured one of the world’s oldest civilizations.
