Swadeshi Will Make India a Global Power: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, March 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that Swadeshi is an integral part of India’s culture and an eternal tradition. He stated that the strength of Swadeshi will help the country become self-reliant and eventually emerge as a global superpower.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing the Entrepreneur Felicitation Ceremony organized by Swadeshi Jagaran Manch in Jagatpura. He said that the spirit of Swadeshi and self-reliance has been embedded in India’s soul for thousands of years. Long before European countries travelled across the world for trade, India’s fine textiles—such as muslin from Murshidabad, silk from Varanasi, and the traditional Leheriya and Bandhej fabrics of Rajasthan—were admired in global markets. He added that the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch has been continuously working to strengthen this identity and promote a self-reliant India.

Referring to the leadership of Narendra Modi, Sharma said the Prime Minister’s call of “Make in India, Make for the World” has sparked a new movement towards self-reliance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, India supplied medicines and vaccines to several countries, demonstrating the strength of an Atmanirbhar Bharat and reflecting the vision of transforming India from a consumer nation into a producer nation.

The Chief Minister noted that since 2014, India has witnessed unprecedented transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. The country’s economy has moved from the 11th to the 4th position globally, and India is becoming self-reliant in sectors ranging from defence manufacturing to semiconductor production. He said this progress is the result of strong policies, determination, and the hard work of the people.

Sharma emphasized that along with large industries, small and local entrepreneurs also play a crucial role in achieving self-reliance. He said supporting local products strengthens the entire supply chain associated with them. To promote local products, the state government has launched the Panch Gaurav Programme.

He also highlighted that within its first year, the state government organized the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, which resulted in investment MoUs worth ₹35 lakh crore, out of which projects worth ₹8 lakh crore have already begun with ground-breaking ceremonies.

The Chief Minister further said that Rajasthan’s handicrafts are globally renowned and continue to attract strong international demand. At the same time, the state’s tourism sector is growing steadily due to its forts, palaces, wildlife sanctuaries, and temples. He also mentioned that the historic havelis of Shekhawati are an important heritage of the state and the government is working to identify and preserve them.

Earlier, the Chief Minister honoured entrepreneurs from various sectors for their contributions. The event was attended by R. Sundaram, National Convener of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch; Kashmiri Lal, National Organizing Secretary; Archana Meena, All India Women Head; and Mahendra Singh Maggo, Sanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Jaipur region, along with other distinguished guests.
