Ukraine Has Secured The Release Of 07 Oschad Bank Collectors Captured By Hungary.

Kyiv; March 2026: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga has announced that Ukraine has secured the release of seven Ukrainians who were being held in Budapest, and they have already crossed the Ukrainian border.

According to the Foreign Minister, he has apprised the President Volodymyr Zelensky about the release of the captured collectors. They are now safe and have crossed the Ukrainian border. The concerned consular is providing the necessary assistance.

“I thank our team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary, as well as our law enforcement agencies, state institutions, state banks, and everyone who helped achieve their release”, Sybiga has confirmed.

BACKDROP – The National Police of Ukraine had initiated criminal proceedings into the kidnapping of Ukrainian citizens and a company car of JSC Oschad bank in Hungary immediately after reports came in.

Information about the event was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping) and Article 147 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hostage-taking).

As noted, the police officers of the Department of International Police Cooperation of the National Police of Ukraine have contacted Europol, the Hungarian Tax and Customs Service, and the police through official channels, and are coordinating actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
