CM Interacts with Farmers in Hanumangarh
Jaipur, March 2026: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma interacted with farmers in Hanumangarh on Sunday and sought their feedback on irrigation systems, electricity supply, and government schemes. The interaction took place after he attended the state-level celebration of International Women’s Day in the district.
Farmers from Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for announcing a ₹150 bonus on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat procurement in the state budget. They also appreciated the government’s efforts to strengthen the canal irrigation system. During the meeting, farmers welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a bouquet made of wheat stalks.
Dialogue with Farmers
Sharma held discussions with farmers on issues such as electricity supply, strengthening of canal systems, and increasing the water-carrying capacity of the Firozpur Feeder Canal. He sought feedback on the special initiatives being taken by the government to improve these facilities.
He said that interacting directly with farmers and resolving agriculture-related issues quickly is one of his government’s top priorities.
Key Agricultural Districts
The Chief Minister noted that Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh are among the most important districts for food grain production. He said farmers in these regions have played a major role in making Rajasthan a significant contributor to the country’s food supply.
He added that the state government is making strong efforts to further strengthen irrigation systems for farmers.
Work on Irrigation Projects
Sharma said the government has been actively working to resolve water-sharing issues with neighboring states for crop irrigation. Large-scale schemes are also being implemented to develop water resources in the state. These efforts will help ensure more water availability for irrigation in the Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar regions in the future.
Focus on Low-Water Crops and Natural Farming
The Chief Minister encouraged farmers to adopt modern and changing agricultural practices according to the needs of the time. He suggested growing crops that require less water but provide higher profits.
He also spoke about natural farming, advising farmers to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and instead use limited fertilizers and organic manure such as cow dung.
Farmer Welfare a Priority
Sharma said the state government has taken several steps to increase farmers’ income. Dairy farmers are being given a ₹5 per litre subsidy on milk production. Farmers have also been provided interest-free short-term crop loans worth ₹50,000 crore. Subsidies are also being provided on agricultural machinery.
He further said that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually from the central government, and the state government has added an additional ₹3,000 support amount.
Transparency in Crop Insurance
The Chief Minister assured farmers that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, compensation is provided for crop losses and any irregularities in the scheme will not be tolerated. He also assured them that there would be no shortage of fertilizers in the state, as adequate stock has been maintained.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Chief Minister’s personal security was handled entirely by women police personnel during the state-level event in Hanumangarh.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, District In-charge and Food & Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara, MLAs Sanjeev Beniwal, Gurveer Brar, Ganeshraj Bansal, along with other public representatives and a large number of farmers.
