Women Athletes Honoured at Asmita Khelo India League in Alwar

Jaipur, March 2026: Minister of State for Forest and Environment (Independent Charge) Sanjay Sharma inaugurated the “Asmita Khelo India Women’s Athletics League” and felicitation ceremony at Gauri Devi Government Girls College in Alwar on Sunday. The event was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day in coordination with the Sports Authority of India and MY Bharat. He also honoured the winning athletes during the ceremony.

Extending his greetings on International Women’s Day, Sharma said the day is being celebrated across the world to recognize the achievements and contributions of women. He emphasized that both the central and state governments are committed to the upliftment and empowerment of women.

The minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced a provision for 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, aiming to increase women’s representation in governance.

Sharma also thanked Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma for prioritizing women’s education and providing important facilities in Alwar, including the establishment of a new girls’ college and a girls’ polytechnic college.

He further announced that infrastructure at Gauri Devi Government Girls College will be strengthened by constructing a modern auditorium and an indoor badminton court. On the occasion, he also announced that girl students of the college will be taken on a free educational trip to Sariska Tiger Reserve.
