During Parliament Budget Session, K. Vanlalvena Urges Centre to Build Flyover Bridges to Ease Aizawl Traffic
March 2026 : During the Parliament Budget Session, Rajya Sabha MP K. Vanlalvena raised the issue and urged the Central Government to construct flyover bridges in Aizawl city to address the persistent problem of traffic congestion.
The Rajya Sabha MP stated that since Aizawl is located in a hilly area, the existing roads are not wide enough, which has resulted in severe traffic jams. Because of this, people going to government offices, as well as students and teachers, often fail to reach their offices and schools on time.
He further said that this situation not only disrupts the daily life of the public but also hampers the overall development of the city.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has already constructed flyover bridges in many cities across India. If the Union Urban Ministry can build flyovers in the cities of richer states, he expressed hope that the Central Government would also construct flyover bridges in Aizawl, the capital city of the relatively poorer state of Mizoram.
