Nitish Kumar Announces ₹570 Crore Development Projects for Supaul During ‘Samriddhi Yatra’
Patna, March 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday gifted development projects worth ₹570 crore to Supaul district during his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for a total of 213 development schemes. The Chief Minister also reviewed several ongoing projects in the district and directed officials to ensure their timely completion.
As part of the visit, the Chief Minister inspected the renovation work of the Nirmali Ring Bund (Sipahi Chowk) located in Nirmali. During the inspection, he inaugurated and unveiled plaques through remote mode for several projects, including repair and road construction works of Sikrahata–Majhari Low Bund, Dagmara Marginal Bund, and Nirmali Ghera Bund under the Western Embankment Division, Nirmali. These projects have been completed at an estimated cost of ₹17.21 crore.
In addition, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a project worth ₹5.91 crore aimed at removing obstructions in the Sursar River to ensure uninterrupted flow in the blocks of Chhatapur and Triveniganj.
Officials informed that under the World Bank-supported Bihar Water Security and Irrigation Modernization Project, the Sikrahata–Majhari Low Bund—with a total length of 31.985 kilometres—has been strengthened and elevated. With the completion of this work, Nirmali town, which used to face waterlogging and flooding during the monsoon season every year, is expected to get relief. The renovation of the ring bund will significantly reduce flood-related problems for local residents.
During the inspection, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed officials to ensure that all ongoing development works are completed within the stipulated time frame and with proper quality standards. He stressed that infrastructure projects should be implemented efficiently so that the benefits reach the people without delay.
Later, at the Nirmali Sub-Divisional Office ground, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 213 development projects worth ₹570 crore. Out of these, 129 projects worth ₹135 crore were inaugurated, while the foundation stone for 84 projects worth ₹335 crore was laid.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also visited stalls set up by Jeevika self-help groups and various government departments. He interacted with beneficiaries and reviewed different welfare schemes being implemented in the district.
During the programme, Nitish Kumar distributed benefits to several beneficiaries under different government initiatives. These included a symbolic cheque of ₹50,000 under the Bihar Shatabdi Asangathit Kshetra Kamgar and Shilpkar Social Security (Amendment) Scheme 2024, Bihar Student Credit Cards, benefits under the Kushal Yuva Programme, Ayushman cards, and keys of tricycles for persons with disabilities.
Under the Bihar Laghu Udyami Yojana (2024–25), a symbolic cheque of ₹3.52 crore was distributed as the first installment to 705 beneficiaries. The Chief Minister also handed over the keys of the Sewing Training Centre at Pratapganj.
In addition, 16,058 Jeevika self-help groups were provided bank linkage assistance through a symbolic cheque of ₹186.58 crore, aimed at strengthening women’s financial empowerment and promoting self-employment opportunities across the region.
Several senior leaders and officials were present on the occasion, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, and MLA Anirudh Prasad Yadav.
Also present were Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department Santosh Kumar Mall, Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, Koshi Division Commissioner Rajesh Kumar, DIG of Koshi Range Kumar Ashish, District Magistrate Sawan Kumar, Superintendent of Police Sarath R.S., along with other senior officials and dignitaries.
