Rajasthan Sets World Record Training 48,000 Food Handlers in 2 Days
Jaipur, March 2026: Under the initiative of Bhajanlal Sharma, a large-scale campaign is being carried out across the state to ensure the availability of pure and safe food and to curb adulteration. Alongside this, special activities are being organized to raise public awareness.
Under the guidance of Medical Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, the Food Safety Commissionerate achieved a remarkable milestone by training over 48,000 food business operators and associated personnel in just two days (March 17 and 18), thereby setting a world record. Notably, more than 30,000 participants were trained on the very first day—also a record.
Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, Gayatri Rathore, stated that this achievement has been recorded in the World Book of Records London. She added that the Food Safety Commissionerate team, along with district officials and staff, successfully carried out this historic initiative and similar awareness programmes will continue in the future.
Food Safety Commissioner Dr. T Shubhamangala said that participants included Anganwadi workers, mid-day meal staff, government hostel employees, jail kitchen staff, hotel and dhaba operators, and street food vendors, all of whom took part enthusiastically. The achievement being recorded as a world record is a matter of pride for the state, and a provisional certificate has already been received.
Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh noted that such large-scale training will play a crucial role in increasing awareness about food safety and improving the quality of safe and hygienic food provided by trained handlers. Joint Commissioner Dr. Vijay Prakash Sharma added that effective coordination across all districts ensured the successful execution of the programme.
