Chapchar Kut Celebrated by Mizo Community in Mumbai
Mumbai, March 2026: The Mumbai Mizo Association (MMA) organized the traditional Chapchar Kut festival for the Mizo community residing in Mumbai on March 19, 2026.
MLA and Lunglei HPC Vice Chairman V. Malsawmtluanga attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, he encouraged the Mizo community in Mumbai to uphold the value of tlawmngaihna (selfless service) and continue to showcase their cultural identity among other communities. He also urged people to stay away from substance abuse, remain dedicated in their respective professions, and advised students to work hard and strive for success in their studies.
MMA President and Mizoram House DRC H. Lalruatliana also spoke at the event, while MMA Treasurer Zohmangaihzuali conducted the programme. Members of the Mizo Students & Youth of Mumbai (MSYM) presented various cultural performances, highlighting traditional art forms.
Renowned artists Taitea Pautu and Ruatpuii from Mizoram also participated in the celebrations, adding vibrancy to the event.
More than 700 members of the Mizo community in Mumbai attended the festival and shared a communal feast. This year’s Chapchar Kut celebration witnessed a higher turnout compared to previous years, reflecting growing enthusiasm among participants.
