Rehabilitated Youth from Sukma to Run in Bastar Heritage Marathon
Raipur, March 2026: The land of Bastar is once again set to become a symbol of positive change and renewed energy. The upcoming Bastar Heritage Marathon, scheduled for March 22, is not just a sporting event but also a powerful initiative representing social transformation and the rebuilding of trust.
A total of 30 rehabilitated youth from the Naxal Rehabilitation Centre in Sukma district will participate in the marathon. This is not merely a race, but a reflection of a new beginning for these young individuals who have courageously chosen to abandon the path of violence and return to the mainstream. The administration has been actively supporting them by providing training, creating opportunities to showcase their talent, and helping them reintegrate into society. These participants will now compete shoulder to shoulder with international athletes, demonstrating their abilities on a larger मंच.
Youth such as Podiyami Hoonga and Kamli Tati (names changed), who were once associated with Maoist-affected regions, are now preparing to establish their identity in the field of sports. This transformation clearly highlights the success of the administration’s rehabilitation policy.
The grand marathon will begin at Lalbagh Ground in Jagdalpur and will feature attractive prize money, drawing participation and enthusiasm from athletes across the country.
Through this event, the state government and district administration aim to send a strong message that Bastar is no longer defined by its past, but by its promising future, emerging sporting talent, and growing social harmony. The Bastar Heritage Marathon is evolving into a platform where sports, development, and trust move forward together.
