Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane Reviews Commercial Gas Supply; Hears Concerns of Hotel and Trade Bodies
Sindhudurgnagari, March 2026 : Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane chaired a review meeting on commercial gas supply in the district, bringing together coordinators from major oil companies and representatives of hotel and trade associations.
Officials from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) participated in the meeting, along with local stakeholders. The discussion focused on ensuring uninterrupted commercial gas supply, especially in view of the ongoing tourism season in Sindhudurg district.
Rane emphasised that a steady supply of commercial gas is crucial for the hospitality sector, which plays a key role in the district’s tourism-driven economy. He noted that shortages have already begun to affect hotel operations, with several establishments reportedly on the verge of closure. Such disruptions, he warned, could directly impact the tourism industry and local livelihoods.
Addressing the concerns raised by hotel and trader associations, the minister assured that their demands would be actively pursued at the government level. He highlighted the need for coordinated efforts between suppliers, administration, and business stakeholders to resolve supply issues at the earliest.
Senior district officials, including District Collector Trupti Dhotmise, Superintendent of Police Dr. Mohan Dahikar, Resident Deputy Collector Machhindra Sukte, and District Supply Officer Sahare, were also present at the meeting.
Rane appealed to hotel operators to remain patient and continue their services responsibly, ensuring that no confusion or dissatisfaction arises among the public due to the shortage. He also advised hotel and trade associations to appoint designated representatives to maintain effective coordination with the administration and streamline communication.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards stabilising the supply chain and supporting the district’s tourism sector during the peak season.
