Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar Congratulates Maharashtra Kesari Winner Harshvardhan Sadgir

Pune, March 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar has congratulated Harshvardhan Sadgir for winning the prestigious Maharashtra Kesari title, praising his determination, strength, and skill that helped him secure the victory. She also lauded runner-up Mahendra Gaikwad for his equally impressive performance, stating that both wrestlers won the hearts of wrestling enthusiasts with their remarkable display.

In her message, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the final bout of the 68th Maharashtra Kesari wrestling competition, held at Wagholi, delivered a thrilling experience that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The intense contest between Harshvardhan Sadgir, winner of the mat category, and Mahendra Gaikwad, winner of the mud category, was highly competitive. Demonstrating exceptional prowess, Sadgir emerged victorious and claimed the prestigious Maharashtra Kesari mace.

She noted that the clash between Sadgir and Gaikwad truly upheld the rich tradition of wrestling. Wrestling, she said, is a rugged sport deeply rooted in Maharashtra’s soil and cultural heritage. It was through this sport that legendary wrestler Khashaba Jadhav brought India its first individual Olympic medal. Continuing this proud legacy, today’s young wrestlers are carrying the tradition forward, which is a matter of great pride.

The competition held at Wagholi witnessed several exciting and closely contested matches. With grand arrangements and excellent organization, the event stood out as a remarkable sporting spectacle.

Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar extended her heartfelt congratulations to both the winner and the runner-up and wished them success in their future endeavours.
