Women’s Empowerment and Tech-Driven Growth Take Centre Stage in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, March 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised that ensuring safety, dignity, and self-reliance for women is crucial for building a strong and progressive nation. He underlined the need for dedicated infrastructure and targeted initiatives to enable women to play a more effective role in shaping a “New India.”

Speaking at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister highlighted several key developments aimed at empowering women and strengthening the state’s technological and industrial capabilities. On the occasion of Chaitra Navratri, he laid the foundation stone for a girls’ hostel that will accommodate 144 students. The facility is being constructed through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds provided by Power Grid Corporation of India.

In addition to this, a state-of-the-art cyber forensic research centre was inaugurated at the university. The facility is expected to play a vital role in tackling emerging challenges such as cybercrime, mobile data analysis, deepfake detection, and digital document security. The Chief Minister noted that strengthening forensic infrastructure is essential for modern law enforcement and ensuring timely justice.

Highlighting broader initiatives, he said that working women’s hostels are being developed across multiple districts to provide safe accommodation and encourage greater participation of women in the workforce. Over the past nine years, women’s participation in the workforce in Uttar Pradesh has increased significantly—from 12 per cent to 36 per cent—across both government and private sectors.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of equipping youth with skills aligned to modern industry demands. Efforts are underway to integrate technology, innovation, and skill development to make young people both market-ready and industry-ready.

He pointed out that regions such as Noida and Greater Noida have emerged as major hubs for IT and electronics manufacturing, while Kanpur is steadily developing into a centre for leather and drone industries. Eastern Uttar Pradesh is being positioned as a combined hub for agriculture and MSMEs, while Bundelkhand is being developed into a defence manufacturing hub, supported by a large industrial township spread over 56,000 acres and a proposed pharma park.

The state is witnessing rapid progress across sectors including IT, electronics, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, startups, data centres, MSMEs, and defence manufacturing. In line with future energy needs, plans for two Centres of Excellence focused on green hydrogen energy have also been advanced.

MMMUT has been selected for collaboration with Japan in the field of green hydrogen technology, marking a significant step in international cooperation. Additionally, a Centre of Excellence is being set up in Gorakhpur in partnership with Tata Technologies to further boost technical education and innovation.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the contribution of Power Grid Corporation, which has invested over ₹400 crore in Uttar Pradesh under CSR initiatives, including support for healthcare infrastructure and advanced medical facilities.

Reiterating improvements in law and order, he said women now feel safer stepping out for education and employment compared to earlier years. He also highlighted the expansion of forensic labs across the state, strengthening the criminal justice system.

The event was attended by ministers, public representatives, and senior officials, marking another step in Uttar Pradesh’s journey towards inclusive growth and technological advancement.
