Khelo India Tribal Games 2026: Arunachal’s Ruba Tadu Wins Gold in Men’s 88 kg Weightlifting
Raipur, March 2026 : The men’s 88 kg weightlifting competition at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026, held at the Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University Sports Ground in Raipur, witnessed outstanding performances and intense competition, captivating spectators throughout the event.
Athletes from across the country participated, showcasing remarkable strength and determination in a closely contested field. Representing Arunachal Pradesh, Ruba Tadu emerged as the champion with an impressive total lift of 274 kg, securing the gold medal. His performance included 117 kg in the snatch and 157 kg in the clean and jerk, ensuring his top position on the podium.
Andhra Pradesh’s Devarakonda Prema Sagar delivered a strong performance to claim the silver medal with a total lift of 270 kg. Meanwhile, another lifter from Arunachal Pradesh, Sorum Hitler Tagru, secured the bronze medal with a combined lift of 262 kg.
Among other notable performances, Odisha’s Sanatan Malik finished fourth with a total of 249 kg, followed closely by Assam’s Pritam Sonowal, who lifted 248 kg to take fifth place. Madhya Pradesh’s Prithviraj Chauhan secured sixth position with a total of 226 kg.
Several other athletes also competed and gained valuable experience, including Daniel Jamatia from Tripura (192 kg), Alester Gomes from Goa (152 kg), Siddaboina Naveen from Telangana (146 kg), and Chhatrapal Thakur from Chhattisgarh (130 kg).
The competition witnessed fierce rivalry, with each participant striving to deliver their best performance. The event not only provided a platform for athletes to showcase their talent but also strengthened the spirit of sportsmanship and unity among participants from different states.
