India Make Two Changes for Final T20I Against Zimbabwe, Aim for Series Whitewash

Harare, July 2026: India made two changes to their playing XI for the third and final T20 International against Zimbabwe after captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday. Having already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, the visitors will now be aiming to complete a clean sweep with another victory.

The biggest change in the Indian lineup came after fast bowler Prince Yadav was ruled out with a left hamstring injury sustained during India’s emphatic 90-run victory in the second T20I on Saturday. In his place, pacer Ashok Sharma was handed an opportunity, while seam-bowling all-rounder Suryansh Shedge replaced Shivam Dube in the playing XI.

Explaining his decision to bat first, Iyer said India wanted to make full use of the conditions on a pitch that was expected to become slower as the match progressed.

“We’re going to bat first considering that we are playing on the same wicket and anticipate it getting slower. The way the boys batted yesterday and put 220 runs on the board was phenomenal. Reflecting on that performance gives me confidence, and we want to replicate it again today,” Iyer said after the toss.

The Indian skipper stressed the importance of adapting quickly to the pitch conditions, acknowledging that the surface might not behave exactly as it had in the previous match.

“We can’t predict whether the wicket will play exactly like yesterday, but the quicker we adapt, the better our chances. Our objective is to assess the conditions early and post another competitive total,” he added.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, who also preferred batting first, revealed that experienced pacer Richard Ngarava had been ruled out with a minor niggle. Left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza replaced him in the hosts’ playing XI.

“We would have liked to bat first as well. Personally, I need to contribute more runs as captain, and hopefully both I and the team can put in a better performance today,” Raza said.

India have dominated the series so far, comfortably winning the opening two matches to seal the contest with a game to spare. Sunday’s encounter presents an opportunity for the visitors to finish the tour on a high with a 3-0 series sweep, while Zimbabwe will be hoping to salvage some pride by registering their first victory of the series.
