Adequate Stock of LPG, Petrol, Diesel, Fertilizers Ensured; Effective Measures Against Panic Buying and Misinformation – Chief Secretary

Jaipur, March 2026 : Following the directives issued by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the meeting with all Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors regarding the ongoing West Asia situation, Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, convened an important meeting at the Secretariat on Saturday. The meeting reviewed key issues including LPG, petrol, diesel, and fertilizer supply in the state.

The Chief Secretary assured that sufficient stock of LPG, petrol, diesel, and fertilizers is available, and the public need not be concerned about supply. All departments were instructed to discharge their responsibilities efficiently to provide maximum relief to citizens. He highlighted that increased domestic LPG production and additional supplies from regions beyond West Asia have further improved the situation. Domestic, educational, and healthcare institutions are receiving uninterrupted LPG supply, and commercial cylinders are now also being distributed.

Regarding fertilizers, officials were directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of urea, DAP, and other fertilizers to farmers. Emphasis was placed on promoting nano urea and bio-fertilizers, managing storage effectively, and strictly preventing any diversion or black-marketing. Districts with higher fertilizer consumption must receive adequate supply, and the “Save Mother Earth Campaign” must be effectively implemented.

For PNG connections, the Chief Secretary instructed that priority be given to areas where pipelines are available, ensuring widespread availability to households and institutions. Pipeline expansion should continue to maximize PNG access, supporting uninterrupted LPG supply. Officials and oil marketing company representatives were instructed to take effective action in this regard, including promoting biogas plants and the Gobardhan scheme.

Officials were also instructed to ensure the smooth implementation of welfare schemes, providing maximum relief to economically weaker sections. Beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana should receive ration without disruption, and Annapurna kitchens must operate efficiently. Monitoring should prevent illegal price hikes, hoarding, or diversion of food, fertilizers, or gas cylinders, with prompt action on complaints. Security arrangements should be ensured at storage facilities.

Additional electric vehicle charging points will be established, public transport operations maintained, and auto-rickshaw retrofitting promoted to encourage EV usage. Departments were also directed to prevent and counter fake news effectively, ensuring accurate information reaches the public to avoid panic.

Support is being extended to Rajasthani expatriates in Gulf countries through a 24-hour helpline. Labor department officials were instructed to ensure timely payment, food, accommodation, and transport for migrant workers and expedite pending payments for micro, small, and medium enterprises.

The meeting included the Food & Civil Supplies Secretary Shri Ambarish Kumar, department heads, senior officials, and representatives of oil and gas marketing companies, all working to ensure 100% compliance with government directives.
