PM Modi Condemns Attacks on UAE, Praises President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s Leadership During Crisis
Abu Dhabi, May 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday strongly condemned the recent attacks on the United Arab Emirates and praised UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for demonstrating “restraint and courage” during a difficult period marked by heightened tensions in West Asia.
During bilateral talks held in Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s solidarity with the UAE and assured full support for efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
Addressing the UAE President, PM Modi said the attacks on the country were unacceptable and commended the leadership shown by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in safeguarding national unity and security during the crisis.
“We strongly condemn the attack that took place in the UAE. The way the UAE was targeted is unacceptable in any form. In these difficult circumstances, the restraint and courage you demonstrated are highly commendable,” the Prime Minister said during the meeting.
He further congratulated the UAE leadership for taking effective measures to maintain national security and territorial integrity amid the challenging situation.
Prime Minister Modi also expressed appreciation for the care extended to the Indian community residing in the UAE during the tense period.
“In such challenging times, the way you cared for the Indian community and looked after them like members of your own family, I express my heartfelt appreciation to the UAE government and the royal family for that,” he said.
The Prime Minister thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm welcome extended to him upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi and described the UAE as his “second home”.
“I express heartfelt gratitude to you for the warm welcome. Just like you said — I have come to my second home. This sentiment is a huge capital of my life,” PM Modi remarked.
He also acknowledged the special gesture made by the UAE Air Force, which escorted his aircraft as it entered UAE airspace.
“Your Air Force jets escorted me today. This is an honour to the people of India,” he said.
The discussions between the two leaders also focused on regional security and the impact of the ongoing tensions in West Asia on global stability and energy markets.
Prime Minister Modi stressed that ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and free for navigation continues to be one of India’s top strategic priorities.
“The impact of the war-like situation in the West Asia conflict is being felt across the world. India has always given priority to dialogue and diplomacy for resolving issues. Keeping Hormuz free, open and safe is our highest priority. In this matter, adherence to international laws is essential,” he said.
Reiterating India’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, PM Modi said India would continue to stand firmly with the UAE.
“India stands shoulder to shoulder with the UAE in every situation and will continue to do so in the future as well. India is ready to provide every possible support for the restoration of peace and stability at the earliest,” he added.
Earlier, after receiving a ceremonial guard of honour in Abu Dhabi, PM Modi posted on social media thanking the UAE President for personally receiving him at the airport and expressed optimism about discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas such as energy, investment, trade and supply chains.
