Striving for All-Round Development of Matang Society – Sports Minister Sanjay Bansode
Foundation Stone Laid for Dr. Sahitya Ratna Annabhau Sathe Cultural Hall, Museum, and Study Building in Udgir
Latur : Efforts are being made through the state government for the overall development of the Matang community. To support this goal, the Arti Institute has been established as a research and training institute dedicated to the legacy of Demokratir Sahitya Ratna Dr. Annabhau Sathe. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sanjay Bansode announced that substantial funds have been allocated for the development of the community in Udgir Taluka.
A statue of Demokratir Sahitya Ratna Dr. Annabhau Sathe is being erected in Udgir city. Minister Bansode spoke during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Annabhau Sathe Cultural Hall, Museum, and Study Building. The event was attended by MLA Amit Gorkhe, Udgir Sub-Divisional Officer Sushant Shinde, Tehsildar Ram Borgaonkar, Group Development Officer Praveen Suradkar, Municipal Council Chief Sundar Bondar, former Zilla Parishad President Rahul Kendra, Bansilal Kamble, Ambadas Sagat, along with other officials and citizens in large numbers. The event began with a floral welcome for Minister Sanjay Bansode and other dignitaries. Minister Bansode performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the building.
Under the Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Development Scheme, Rs 14.96 crore has been allocated to Udgir Municipal Council for this project. The building, which includes parking facilities on the ground floor, will house a cultural hall, museum, and study hall on the first and second floors.
Minister Bansode also mentioned that a memorial for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is being erected at the Indu Mill site in Mumbai. Similarly, a memorial for Demokratir Sahitya Ratna Dr. Annabhau Sathe will be established in Chirag Nagar, and a memorial for Wastad Lahuji Salve will be built in Pune, with the foundation stone ceremony for the latter happening soon.
The Annabhau Sathe Cultural Hall, Museum, and Study Building is being constructed at a strategic location in Udgir city, with plans for further enhancements. Minister Bansode assured that there would be no shortage of funds for this project. An additional Rs 50 lakh has been allocated for the Annabhau Sathe statue, with another Rs 50 lakh earmarked for the beautification of the surrounding area. Bansode also mentioned the construction of a statue and grand auditorium dedicated to Annabhau Sathe in Jalkot city, and the establishment of Annabhau Sathe Samaj Bhavans at various locations within Udgir.
The state government is committed to the welfare of the common people, and through the Chief Minister’s Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 is being provided to women, which will be doubled in the future, according to Minister Bansode.
MLA Amit Gorkhe stated that the Arti Institute, modeled after the Barti Institute, will assist Matang community youth in preparing for competitive exams and conducting research. The state government is implementing various schemes for the development of the Matang community through the Demokratir Sahitya Ratna Annabhau Sathe Economic Development Corporation.
Sachin Sathe, a descendant of Dr. Annabhau Sathe, highlighted that Annabhau Sathe’s literature depicted the life of the common, hardworking man. His works were created with the development of society in mind, and Sachin Sathe urged everyone to understand his thoughts and work for society without any caste discrimination.
Prof. Ambadas Sagat, Ramchandra Tiruke, Bansilal Kamble, and Pappu Gaikwad also shared their thoughts at the event. The program was introduced by Prof. Pandit Suryavanshi and moderated by Shivaji Devtale.
