Adani Ports Crosses 500 Million Tonnes Cargo Milestone, Eyes 1 Billion by 2030
Ahmedabad, April 2026 : Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) on Wednesday announced that it has surpassed the landmark milestone of handling 500 million tonnes of cargo, marking a major achievement in its growth journey and India’s infrastructure development.
From its beginnings in 1998 as a single port-led initiative, APSEZ has evolved into a vast network spanning 19 ports and terminals across India and overseas. Today, it plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade, supporting industrial growth, and enhancing India’s global competitiveness.
Chairman Gautam Adani described the milestone as more than just a numerical achievement, calling it a reflection of national progress. “Ports are not merely gateways for trade; they are gateways to national confidence, competitiveness and destiny,” he said, thanking customers, partners, and employees for their contributions. He also acknowledged the support of Central and State Governments in enabling infrastructure growth.
The milestone highlights the rapid transformation of APSEZ into a world-class logistics platform built on long-term vision, operational efficiency, and strategic expansion. Beyond ports, the company has developed an integrated ecosystem that includes rail networks, road connectivity, trucking services, warehouses, and cargo gateways.
The journey to 500 million tonnes reflects a steady acceleration in growth. While the company took 16 years to handle its first 100 million tonnes, each subsequent milestone was achieved in a shorter time span, demonstrating improved scale, efficiency, and resilience. This growth trajectory underscores the increasing demand for robust logistics infrastructure in India’s expanding economy.
Currently, APSEZ operates a comprehensive network of 15 strategically located ports and terminals along India’s west, south, and east coasts. Its logistics backbone includes a marine fleet of 127 vessels, 12 multi-modal logistics parks, over 3.1 million square feet of warehouse space, and a fleet of more than 25,000 trucks operating on its platform.
Looking ahead, the company has set an ambitious target of handling one billion tonnes of cargo annually by 2030. Gautam Adani expressed confidence in achieving this goal, stating that the milestone reinforces the group’s long-term belief in India’s growth story.
As APSEZ enters its next phase, it aims to strengthen its position as a global logistics leader while continuing to contribute to India’s infrastructure development. The company remains focused on delivering world-class services, expanding capacity, and building a future-ready logistics ecosystem aligned with the country’s economic aspirations.
