In A Heartbreaking And Barbaric Deed – US & Israel Bombs Iran’s Century Old Health Centre.

Tehran; April 2026: Iran has condemned a US-Israeli attack on Pasteur Institute, one of the country’s oldest public health institutions as a “barbaric assault on basic human core values”. In a post on his X account on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei reacted to the US-Israeli attack on Iran’s Pasteur Institute, established over a century ago as a research, production, service, and educational center.

“Heartbreaking, cruel, despicable, and utterly outrageous: the American-Israeli aggressors have attacked the Pasteur Institute of Iran, the oldest and most prestigious research and public health center in Iran and the entire Middle East, founded in 1920 through an agreement between the Pasteur Institute of Paris and the Iranian government”, he said.

“This is not merely another war crime committed as part of an illegal war; it is a barbaric assault on basic human core values”, he added.

The Pasteur Institute of Iran is one of the century-old pillars of global health and a member of the international Pasteur network. The institute is a research, production, service, and educational organization established with the goal of ensuring public health. Throughout its century-long history, it has played a key role in controlling many infectious diseases both in the country and worldwide. Since 1920, this institute has been one of the pioneers and key hubs of vaccine production in the region.

The US-Israeli war against Iran has also targeted a wide range of civilian infrastructure. Among the most devastating attacks was the infamous bombing of Minab School, which killed about 170 teachers and schoolgirls. Additionally, residential homes, hospitals, and pharmaceutical centers have been hit.

Israeli missiles struck a major pharmaceutical company in Tehran on Tuesday morning, completely destroying its raw material production units and its research and development unit. The attack on the company, Tofigh Daru, came as Israel stepped up terrorist strikes on Iran and US President Donald Trump alternated between threats to target the country’s energy infrastructure and talk of trying to strike a deal with Iran.

Iranian authorities today have reported new attacks on critical infrastructure in several provinces. In Alborz province, officials said the B1 Bridge in Karaj, one of the country’s tallest bridges and considered a major engineering achievement was targeted in a US-Israeli strike. The governor’s office said the bridge, which was nearing completion and is a key part of the province’s transport infrastructure, sustained damage in the attack. Residents have been urged to avoid the area as routes remain closed. Power outages were also reported in some regions with local electricity distribution teams working to restore service.

According to Alborz Governor’s Office, two citizens were killed and several others injured in the attack. In Kermanshah province, Governor Manouchehr Habibi said three bridges had been bombed. He stated that one bridge is located in Ravansar, while another lies along a key western route of the province.

A third bridge on a transit route linking Kermanshah to western border crossings was also struck overnight. Habibi said the damaged route is a vital transit corridor used for transporting goods to border markets and export points, as well as for passenger travel toward Ilam province.

The escalation comes after Trump claimed the US will be done with the war “within maybe two weeks, maybe a couple of days longer to do the job. But we want to knock out every single thing they have. When we feel that they are, for a long period of time, put into the stone ages and they won’t be able to come up with a nuclear weapon, then we’ll leave. Whether we have a deal or not, it’s irrelevant”.

Trump has further said the US may strike a deal with Iran before the next few weeks are up but said, if not, “We’ll hit some bridges, got a couple of nice bridges in mind. But if they come to the table, that’ll be good”.

The US and Israel launched their illegal act of aggression against Iran on February 28 by assassinating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders, in flagrant breach of the country’s sovereignty.

The IRGC has responded with 90 waves of retaliatory strikes, codenamed Operation True Promise 4, launching hundreds of ballistic and hypersonic missiles as well as drone attacks against sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets throughout the region.
