Adequate Availability of Petroleum Products Across State: Chief Secretary Shri Jain

There is adequate availability of LPG and other petroleum products across the state, and there is no shortage of any kind. Expressing satisfaction over the efforts being made to ensure smooth availability of petroleum products, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain instructed Collectors to monitor the situation daily and take prompt and strict action on complaints related to hoarding and black marketing.

Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain reviewed the availability of petroleum products in districts during a meeting held at Mantralaya on Thursday with senior officials and Collectors through video conferencing. It was decided in the meeting that the availability of petroleum products will be reviewed daily at both the state and district levels.

Chief Secretary Shri Jain also instructed that in districts where PNG (Piped Natural Gas) lines are available, the concerned agencies should maintain regular coordination with the district administration to increase domestic connections. He directed Collectors to ensure that agencies receive adequate workforce support. The Chief Secretary also emphasised the need to widely publicise the benefits of PNG among consumers so that piped gas can reach the maximum number of households in these areas within the next three months.

The meeting reviewed the availability and supply of petroleum products over the past month. Satisfaction was expressed that queues at petrol pumps and gas agencies have ended, and panic booking has stopped.

Chief Secretary Shri Jain directed officials to ensure extensive publicity to promote the use of alternative energy sources. He expressed satisfaction over the adequate availability and continuous supply of gas. Reviewing the status of PNG connections in households, he instructed that domestic connections should be provided in accordance with the capacity of the pipelines and that inactive connections should be restored. The Chief Secretary also directed departments to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and other approvals to agencies within 24 hours and to organise camps in residential colonies to facilitate new connections.

Strict Action against Hoarders and Black Marketeers

Chief Secretary Shri Jain also reviewed the action taken against hoarding and black marketing of LPG in the state. He instructed Collectors to enforce the Essential Commodities Act, impose heavy penalties and suspend agencies if necessary. The Chief Secreatary stated that agencies sometimes engage in black marketeering through their own employees for profit.

It was informed in the meeting that so far 3,029 gas cylinders have been seized in the state, and 2,759 raids have been conducted, with 11 FIRs registered against the accused. Petrol and diesel are adequately available in the state, with continuous supply from oil company depots. In districts, applications for Right of Use (RoU) for laying gas pipelines are being processed in accordance with the order to grant deemed CGD permission within 24 working hours of application submission.

The state government has also received an additional allocation of 10 per cent of LPG. On 27 March 2026, the Government of India sanctioned an additional 20 per cent allocation of commercial LPG for industries such as steel, automobile, textile, dyes, chemicals & plastics and supply to industries is being made accordingly.

The meeting was also informed that the allocation of kerosene to the state by the Central Government and the assessment of two petrol pumps in each district are in process. The department has issued guidelines for the kerosene distribution, which will be supplied based on demand. Senior officials and representatives of oil companies were present at the meeting.
