CM Chairs Key Meeting on Dairy Development, Focus on Expansion and Quality
Jaipur, April 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma chaired an important meeting on dairy sector development and emphasised that the dairy industry is a strong pillar of the rural economy, serving as a foundation for the economic prosperity of farmers and milk producers.
Addressing the meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Friday, he said that the dairy sector not only provides financial support to rural families but also generates new employment opportunities at the local level.
The Chief Minister noted that Rajasthan is one of the leading states in milk production and stressed the need to further strengthen dairy infrastructure. He directed officials to enhance milk collection and processing facilities while setting clear targets for increasing average milk procurement and expanding dairy cooperative societies across the state.
Push to Make Saras a National Brand
Sharma highlighted that the state government has announced a ₹2,000 crore Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Infrastructure Development Fund in the budget, along with a plan to establish Saras as a national brand. He instructed officials to explore the possibility of opening Saras outlets not only outside the state but also at प्रमुख धार्मिक and tourist destinations within Rajasthan. He also called for व्यापक branding of dairy products to boost their reach and recognition.
Zero Tolerance Against Adulteration
Emphasising quality, the Chief Minister directed that high standards must be maintained in dairy products. He instructed authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against adulteration and conduct surprise inspections. Strict action should be taken against those found negligent, he said.
He also called for strengthening modern milk testing systems and real-time monitoring mechanisms to ensure product quality and safety.
Strengthening Cooperatives and Innovation
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government is working with the vision of “prosperity through cooperation.” Strengthening the cooperative and dairy sectors, he said, directly benefits farmers and rural communities. He directed officials to ensure effective and time-bound implementation of all departmental schemes so that maximum benefits reach milk producers in a transparent and efficient manner.
He further emphasised the adoption of technological innovations to make the dairy sector more organised and competitive.
Officials informed during the meeting that due to the state government’s focused efforts over the past two years, the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF) has witnessed increased profits. Significant growth has been recorded in milk procurement, processing capacity, marketing, and diversification of dairy products.
