Russian PM Interacts With Kazakhs PM Regarding The Implementation Of Agreements.

Moscow; April 2026: Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov. The Prime Ministers reviewed the implementation progress of the agreements reached during the bilateral intergovernmental discussions those were held on 25 March 2026 in Astana. Focus was placed on expanding trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation, as well as implementing major joint projects in industry, energy, transport infrastructure, and other sectors. Mikhail Mishustin and Olzhas Bektenov noted the importance of promoting integration within the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and other multilateral formats.

Russia has traditionally been one of Kazakhstan’s principal trade and economic partners. Bilateral trade has almost reached $30 billion, and mutual investment continues to grow. Over the past 20 years, Russian businesses have invested more than $ 28 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy. In turn, Kazakh companies have invested approximately $ 09 billion in the Russian economy over the same period. Russian enterprises maintain a strong and active presence in Kazakhstan. More than 22,000 companies with Russian participation account for nearly one-third of all enterprises with foreign capital in Kazakhstan. This represents a substantial level of engagement, which both the countries acknowledge.

As both the countries have reiterated that their relations have stood the test of time and are founded on the principles of friendship, neighbourliness, mutual respect, and consideration for each other’s interests. Following the Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Russia in 2025 November, important agreements were reached to advance multifaceted cooperation, the main one being a comprehensive programme of economic cooperation through 2030.

The Russian Prime Minister, apprised his Kazakh Counterpart that while discussing the trade and commerce agenda with President Vladimir Putin, has informed the Russian President about the importance of attachment to the work of the branch of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Omsk. Russian President has approved continuing to increase quotas for Kazakh students, alongwith intending to further strengthen the cultural and humanitarian ties that have always united both the countries and regions. Direct interregional cooperation, particularly between neighbouring regions, remains of great importance.
