Mukul Choudhary’s Heroics Seal Thrilling Win for LSG Over KKR
Kolkata, April 2026 : In one of the most dramatic encounters of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) scripted a sensational comeback to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by three wickets at Eden Gardens on Thursday.

Chasing a competitive target of 182, LSG found themselves in deep trouble at 128/7 in the 16th over, seemingly headed for defeat. However, what followed was a breathtaking turnaround led by Mukul Choudhary, whose explosive unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls turned the match on its head and sealed one of the most memorable wins of the season.
With 14 runs required off the final over, tension gripped the stadium. KKR pacer Vaibhav Arora, who had earlier struck twice, was tasked with defending the total. But Choudhary held his nerve under pressure, smashing two towering sixes — one of which brought up his half-century — and guiding LSG home with one ball to spare. Jubilant scenes followed in the LSG camp, with players erupting in celebration after pulling off a remarkable victory.
Earlier, KKR had put up a solid total of 181/4 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Captain Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with a brisk 41 off 24 balls, while young Angkrish Raghuvanshi contributed a steady 45 off 33 deliveries. The innings was further bolstered by a late flourish from Rovman Powell, who remained unbeaten on 39 off 24 balls, alongside Cameron Green, who added an unbeaten 32 to ensure a strong finish.
Despite the imposing total, LSG bowlers managed to keep things under control for large parts of the innings. Though Mohammed Shami went wicketless, he maintained pressure with an economical spell, while Digvesh Singh Rathi and Manimaran Siddharth chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
In response, LSG’s chase began on a shaky note as both openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram were dismissed early by Vaibhav Arora. The middle order also failed to stabilize the innings, with captain Rishabh Pant (10) and Nicholas Pooran (13) falling cheaply.
Ayush Badoni provided some resistance with a fighting 54 off 34 balls, keeping LSG in the hunt. However, it was Mukul Choudhary who stole the spotlight with his fearless hitting in the death overs. Walking in under immense pressure, he dismantled the KKR bowling attack with a stunning display of power-hitting, smashing seven sixes and two boundaries.
Choudhary’s match-winning knock, supported by Avesh Khan’s calm presence at the other end, ensured LSG crossed the finish line in dramatic fashion.
Key Performances:
- Mukul Choudhary (LSG): 54* (27 balls, 2 fours, 7 sixes)
- Ayush Badoni (LSG): 54 (34 balls)
- Angkrish Raghuvanshi (KKR): 45 (33 balls)
- Ajinkya Rahane (KKR): 41 (24 balls)
- Vaibhav Arora (KKR): 2/38
The victory gives LSG crucial momentum in the tournament, while KKR will be left ruing missed opportunities after a strong batting performance failed to translate into a win.
