Navkar Mahamantra Holds Power for Universal Welfare: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, April 2026 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that the Navkar Mahamantra embodies the power of universal welfare and can play a vital role in promoting global peace through its collective chanting.

He was speaking at the ‘Vishwa Navkar Mahamantra Diwas’ programme आयोजित by the Jain International Trade Organization at the NSCI Dome in Worli. The event was attended by prominent Jain spiritual leaders including Acharya Param Sagar Maharaj, Niranjan Sagar Maharaj, Soumya Sagar Maharaj, along with Manav Kothari, Bhagwat Kothari, Ashish Shah and others.

The Chief Minister said that on this sacred day, the Navkar Mahamantra is being chanted collectively across the world, reflecting India’s cultural ethos rooted in universal brotherhood and peace. He noted that the mantra has the power to transcend boundaries and unite humanity, making it truly universal in its appeal.

Fadnavis emphasised that all living beings are children of the same creation and have an equal right to live. The principle of “Live and Let Live,” central to Jain philosophy, represents the highest form of thought for global welfare. The Navkar Mahamantra, he said, reinforces this philosophy and inspires individuals to lead a life rooted in positivity and compassion.

He further explained that chanting the mantra purifies the mind, removes negative influences, and energises individuals to engage in constructive and righteous actions. The collective chanting, he added, is akin to a grand spiritual offering dedicated to world peace, capable of bringing renewed energy and harmony into people’s lives.

Highlighting its spiritual depth, the Chief Minister said that the Navkar Mahamantra pays homage to five supreme entities and, in doing so, symbolically offers respect to the entire universe. Chanting the mantra connects individuals with positive cosmic energies and fosters inner peace, not just at the level of thoughts but also within the inner self.

He underscored that the mantra serves as a source of joy, positivity, and spiritual strength, making it a powerful medium for achieving universal harmony and well-being.

Praising the Jain community, Fadnavis said that it upholds the values of compassion towards all living beings and actively practices kindness and service, particularly towards animals. He noted that the community goes beyond words and translates the philosophy of compassion into real-life action.

The event witnessed the presence of Jain acharyas, monks, nuns, and a large number of community members, all participating in the collective chanting dedicated to global peace and welfare.
